In 2024, approximately 4 billion people in 76 nations will vote in national elections. The outcomes of these
elections will have profound implications for democracy and geopolitics, as well as climate and energy
security around the globe. Join Jessica Olcott Yllemo, Director of Climate Security Programs at The American
Security Project for a presentation that explores the climate and energy policies shaping key elections,
geopolitical implications of current trends, and what the future may hold for climate and energy for defense.

About the Speaker


Jessica Olcott Yllemo serves as the Director, Climate Security Programs at
the American Security Project, a non-partisan DC based think tank focused
on the changing nature of national security. She has worked at the nexus
of complex global issues for more than 15 years and supported a variety
of state, federal, and international programs on climate security,
international disaster response/emergency preparedness, and security
cooperation programs. Ms. Yllemo has worked across the U.S. interagency
at the strategic, operational, and tactical levels, and has designed,
executed, and evaluated more than 45 domestic and international
exercises and security cooperation missions. She is an Executive Member
of the Global Military Advisory Council on Climate Change, and a Class of
2024 Security Fellow at the Truman National Security Project. Jessica Yllemo
