EXPLORE
In this chapter, we expand our equation solving processes and graphing
techniques to include more general polynomial equations and functions. Then,
our knowledge of polynomial functions allow us to know more rational functions.
The function concept serves as a unifying thread throughout the chapter.
In this lesson, you will learn how to divide polynomials using long division
and synthetic division. You also assessed your understanding in division of
polynomials as illustrated in some real- life problems. You were also given varied
activities to further deepen and transfer your understanding of the different
lessons to new situations. You will use that knowledge especially in this time of
crisis the whole world is facing right now. You will also learn how to proves the
remainder theorem, factor theorem and the rational root theorem.
Did you enjoy the activity? Try another one if you have time, you just follow the
steps above. The expression (4x + 8) and (x + 2) at the right of the table describes
a polynomial.

LC 1: performs division Activity 3. Synthetic Division
of polynomials using Use Synthetic Division to find the quotient when the given polynomial is divided
long division and by each binomial.
