    To Whom It May Concern,

    I am very pleased to write a letter of recommendation for Tuong La. I


    have been fortunate enough to be the mentor teacher for Mr. La this year and have
    had the opportunity to become acquainted with his teaching abilities. His teaching
    assignment has been our 11th grade Embedded Honors Integrated Science course.
    Mr. La continually fosters a classroom environment that is student
    centered. He strives to engage students in both problem solving, and critical
    thinking in order to make the subject matter meaningful. He makes use of various
    strategies to connect the learning goals to the students’ prior knowledge, life
    experiences and interests. He has implemented numerous activities in order to
    incorporate common core learning objectives into his 5E lesson plans. He asks
    probing questions that require students to examine their understanding and defend
    their position.
    Mr. La exhibits excellent knowledge of the subject matter and he
    organizes the curriculum to support student understanding. What I find most
    impressive is his ability to create opportunities that allow all learners to engage
    with the science curriculum. When presenting new material to students, Mr. La
    incorporates engaging visuals that help convey an appreciation of science.
    His classroom management is excellent. He consistently maintains
    standards for student behavior thereby creating a classroom climate that promotes
    fairness and respect. He plans and implements classroom procedures and routines
    that support student learning. His rapport with students is evident. The students
    appreciate his friendly demeanor and respect his guidance in the classroom. The
    ease with which he has taken the lead for the Spring semester is unparalleled. He
    demonstrates characteristics of a veteran teacher.
    Mr. La is a promising young teacher who conveys an excitement for
    learning. I am confident he will make an excellent contribution to your science
    department.
