    Did You Know?
    A research paper title summarizes the aim and purpose of your research study. Making a title for
    your research is one of the most important decisions when writing an article to publish in journals.

    Direction: Read the research introduction below then answer the questions presented. Write your answers

    Literature is sometimes regarded as an artistic writing which records the events of the past where many
    people contribute their knowledge and skills to the advancement of things in their time and for future
    generations.

    Many people portray their feelings and emotions through literature. But for the readers to appreciate
    literature more than just a form of writing, many writers added some words and certain devices to also
    make people appreciate its beauty. These devices are called literary devices which refer to specific aspects
    of literature in the sense of its universal function as an art form which expresses ideas through language
    which is recognized, identified, interpreted, or analyzed. Literary devices collectively compromise the art
    form’s component; the means by which authors create meaning through language, and by which the
    readers gain understanding and appreciation of their works (Formarejo and Ricalde, 2013)

    In learning and understanding English literature, the common reaction of the students when they are not
    familiar about the text is they do not understand it or it really doesn’t make sense. These kinds of reactions
    are revealing that they do not have enough awareness or a clear idea towards English literature. To gain
    understanding of a literary piece, a student can connect their experiences to it. Literature is difficult for the
    students; they exert much effort and ability to comprehend what was read. Some literature is difficult for
    modern readers as mentioned by Freiden and Elliot (2011).

    This study will focus on the comprehension problems encountered by grade 9 and 10 students at Quezon
    National High School in English literature. This research will collect data from 100 grade 9 and 10 students.
