Using SST, remove the front drive pinion companion flange sub-assembly with dust deflector.

09950-30012 (09951-03010, 09953-03010, 09954-03010, 09955-03030, 09956-03020)

NOTICE:
Before using SST (center bolt), apply hypoid gear oil to its threads and tip.

Using SST, remove the front differential carrier oil seal.

a.

Remove the front differential drive pinion oil slinger from the differential drive pinion.

9.REMOVE FRONT DRIVE PINION REAR TAPERED ROLLER BEARING 41211B

a.

Using SST, remove the front drive pinion rear tapered roller bearing (inner).

10.REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL STORAGE RING 41115F

a. Using a screwdriver and hammer, tap out the front differential oil storage ring.

11.REMOVE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE PINION BEARING SPACER 41231F

a.

Remove the front differential drive pinion bearing spacer from the differential drive pinion.

12.INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE PINION BEARING SPACER 41231F

a.

Install a new front differential drive pinion bearing spacer.

HINT:
Make sure the front differential drive pinion bearing spacer is installed correctly.

13.INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL OIL STORAGE RING 41115F

a. Using a brass bar and hammer, tap in a new front differential oil storage ring.
NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the front differential oil storage ring.

14.INSTALL FRONT DRIVE PINION REAR TAPERED ROLLER BEARING 41211B

a.

Using SST and a hammer, install the front drive pinion rear tapered roller bearing (outer).

09316-60011 (09316-00011)

b. Install the front drive pinion rear tapered roller bearing (inner).

15.INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL DRIVE PINION OIL SLINGER 41214C

a.

Install the front differential drive pinion oil slinger to the differential drive pinion.

16.INSTALL FRONT DIFFERENTIAL CARRIER OIL SEAL

a. Apply MP grease to the lip of a new front differential carrier oil seal.

Using SST and a hammer, tap in the front differential carrier oil seal.

Oil seal depth:

2.7 to 3.3 mm (0.107 to 0.129 in.)

17.INSTALL FRONT DRIVE PINION COMPANION FLANGE SUB-ASSEMBLY WITH 41204D

DUST DEFLECTOR

a.

Using SST, install the front drive pinion companion flange sub-assembly with dust deflector.

09950-30012 (09951-03010, 09953-03010, 09954-03010, 09955-03030, 09956-03020)

NOTICE:
Before using SST (center bolt), apply hypoid gear oil to its threads and tip.

b. Apply hypoid gear oil LSD to the drive pinion thread and nut seat face.

Using SST to hold the companion flange, install a new front drive pinion companion flange nut.

Limit torque value:

370 N*m (3773 kgf*cm, 273 ft.*lbf) or less

18.INSPECT TOTAL PRELOAD

a.

Using a torque wrench, measure the preload with the teeth of the drive pinion and ring gear in contact.
Standard Total Preload (Starting Torque):

1.3 to 2.9 N*m (14 to
New bearing 29 kgf*cm, 12 to 25

Reused bearing to 28 kgf*cm, 12 to 24

If necessary, disassemble and inspect the differential.
