Building and Enhancing New Literacies Across the Curriculum (EDUC 203)

Activity 3
For your online activity: Begin by reading the module. Watch the lecture video. Next,
compose your essay by developing a scenario where you will assume a teacher's role
in delivering the lesson to your students. Demonstrate your approach to being an
effective 21st-century teacher for your learners."

Being a 21st Century teacher I must be able to instruct and connect with all my
students. So that I can refer to their capabilities of differentiating instruction, therefore,
our students can learn according to their learning preference and/or level of aptitude or
preparation. In today's classrooms, teachers have discovered that teaching to each
student's individual learning style and aptitude results in the highest learning outcomes.
The term “21st-century learning” has been used to refer to abilities students must master,
such as problem-solving skills, critical thinking skills, and digital literacy. Some refer to it
as the ability to collaborate, communicate, and demonstrate skills that will ultimately help
students navigate their way in the future.

To do that I have been planning to discuss with them in the future about social and
cultural to be able to know what the reality is now. This is important because they can
share and talk more about what really happens in our society, government even our own
culture. To make this lesson engaging and effective. I will use the following techniques or
strategies:

Differentiated Instruction- “Not two individuals are the same” Some of them learn in
visual, audio, or by doing. There are different kinds of learners, so it is important that I
also use different instruction. The importance of it is they can learn more based on their
interest, preferences, strengths, and struggles in learning.

Implement Technology- A crucial talent for a teacher in the twenty-first century is the
capacity to not only study the latest educational technologies that will help students learn
better and quicker but also to know how to utilize and use the technology in the classroom.
Of course, there are some of them who are visual learners, so technology is important to
emphasize to them our topic and to learn better.

Kinesthetic Learning- It is one of the best ways to remember our lesson by doing to be
more effective. Doing activities by grouping themselves and by recreating a scenario or
roleplay activity about our topic.

By using these kinds of strategies I hope in future to be an effective 21st-century teacher

to my future students. To be more responsible and effective teachers to them someday.
