REFLECTION LOG FOR AFFECTIVE ASSESSMENT

This is one of the experiences I recall recent about the affective assessment.
Based on the discussion about affective assessment that I experienced during a
recitation, I can imagine what my opinions would be regarding this topic. No role-
play activities were assigned, but I envisioned possible outcomes if affective
assessment were used in teaching and in current classroom practices. My role in this
moment is to participate during the discussion and listen to various opinions and
give my ideas. In my opinion, the purpose of the recitation is to give me additional
insights into these matters, such as about presenting a taxonomy of affective
qualities, defining basic terms, learn about principles that ensure accuracy, giving
examples of commonly used methods to measure affective qualities, and providing
further information for in-depth knowledge on the topic through what we tackled last
meeting.
Based on my observation, I believe that this assessment may be challenging to
measure comprehensively because emotions can be change over time. Affective
assessment, which delves into emotions and feelings, is understood to encompass a
wider array of qualities, including temperaments, personality, attitudes, and values.
These qualities are believed to influence personal interests, preferences, perceptions,
and other related aspects. I think the challenges I encountered during the discussion
revolve around deepening my understanding of affective assessment, particularly in
measuring emotions in individuals. We are aware that individuals have different
learning styles, making it critical for a complete and accurate understanding of
human behavior. After all the discussions, all the challenges in my mind were clearly
addressed. It became evident that various methods and approaches have been
developed to help overcome these and other potential difficulties associated with the
assessment of affective assessment. This experience has contributed significantly to
my personal, academic, and professional growth by deepening my knowledge about
different assessment methods. It has equipped me with additional knowledge that I
can use and apply in the future. In our last meeting, the lesson we discussed seems to
have a connection to my real-world experiences, particularly in affective assessment.
I foresee utilizing this knowledge in every discussion and learning opportunity. For
instance, during recitations, when my teacher asks questions I respond to him
heartedly, I can apply this affective assessment principles. I believe this will influence
my actions, encouraging active participation in class and fostering obedience to my
teacher.
I truly believe that this experience relates directly to the topics and learning
objectives of the course or program. The subject revolves around assessment
learning, and all our discussions have focused on various assessment methods. This
experience has deepened my understanding of the subject matter, allowing me not
only to learn about assessment but also to experience and apply it firsthand. The
skills or competencies developed or enhanced through this experience, based on
what we do in our class, involve communicating using the five qualities we have
tackled: receiving, responding, valuing, organizing, and characterizing behaviors and
beliefs as individuals. I foresee applying these skills in the future by understanding
the process of how they are applied in affective assessment. This experience aligns
well with both my personal and professional goals. It has confirmed my aspirations
by providing me with valuable knowledge and skills that I can apply in my future
endeavors. Additionally, it has challenged me to further refine and expand my goals,
particularly in the realm of assessment and learning. While it hasn't reshaped my
aspirations entirely, it has encouraged me to be more proactive in seeking
opportunities to apply my newfound understanding of assessment in both personal
and professional contexts.
Reflecting on this experience, my main takeaways revolve around the
significance of understanding and applying various assessment methods. It has
highlighted the importance of effective communication and the development of skills
such as receiving, responding, valuing, organizing, and characterizing behaviors and
beliefs. Moving forward, I plan to apply these insights by actively incorporating them
into my academic and professional pursuits, particularly in the realm of affective
assessment. In terms of additional thoughts or considerations for future experiences,
I am interested in exploring how different assessment methods can be tailored to
various learning styles and environments. Additionally, delving deeper into the role
of technology in assessment and how it can be utilized to enhance learning outcomes
is something I would like to explore further. Overall, I look forward to continuing my
journey of learning and discovery in the field of assessment and education.
