3 Working principle
Products to be weighed are firstly delivered by Conveyor and fed into the infeed funnel.
Then it can be dispersed to linear feeder pans from the vibrating Top Cone controlled by
program. The products flow thickness can be changed by adjusting the height of the infeed
funnel. Products to be weighed are distributed evenly into each linear feeder pan, stored in feed
bucket. When weigh buckets complete the previous weighing and after they are cleaned out,
products to be weighed in feed buckets can be fed into weigh buckets to prepare for next
combination. Meanwhile this machine can work with other equipments like packaging machines
or conveyor by signal communication, the work flow is shown in Fig 3-1..

Fig. 3-1 Work flow

5
3.1 Combination
The CPU calculates the weight value from each weigh bucket, adds up the single weight
and gets numerous combinations which meet the set deviation from target weight, then selects
the closest one to the tgt wt as shown in Fig 3-1-1.The gate of these selected buckets should
open to discharge the products which may be stored in Collecting bucket or dropped into the
packaging machine for packing.

too.

5.8.3 To set a target weight of one package to be packed. The range is

tgt wt
between 0.1 and 9999.9.

5.8.4 To set the limit of up deviation based on the “tgt wt”.The range is
up limit
between 0.0 and 9999.9.

5.8.5 To set the limit of low deviation based on the “tgt wt”. The range is
L-limit
between 0.0 and target value-0.1.

5.8.6 To set a target weighing speed according to the speed of the

speed packaging machine or the actual situation .The max speed please
refer to the section 2.4 Specification.

5.8.7 To set the target weight of one product. This parameter only
single wt performs when all the products is the same weight. The range is
between 0.1 and 999.9.

5.8.8 It is used as a correct value when the multi-heads weigher cannot

be calibrated a amendatory value referring to the deviation between
discr the actual weight and the display weight, i.e. “actual weight =
display weight + discr”. It can be set as positive or negative value.
The range is between -99.9 and +99.9.

32
33
Middle parameter

Fig 5-8-2 middle parameter

5.8.9 It is a percentage to be set. When the weight in a single weight

bucket is less than this percentage of the target weight, the feed
bucket would continue feeding the weigh bucket until the
No load
weight in this single weigh bucket reaches this percentage, so
that this weigh bucket could attend combination. The range is
between 1 and 99% and the recommended value is 10%-15%.

5.8.10 It refers to the times of the bucket not attending combination.

Such bucket would be forced to attending combination after XX
No select which is the setting value of this button. By doing this, it can
improve the using rate of weigh buckets. The range is between
10 and 9999, the recommendation is 300.

5.8.11 To set a drop times to get the target weight. The target weight is
drop times
divided into drop times to dump products, It means each

34
dumping weight = actual weight/ “discharge times”. It works for
the weight requirement that can’t reach in one time. The range is
the integer between 1 and 99.

5.8.12 Discharge time of collection bucket. To set an interval time

among the collection buckets for discharging product. If the
discharged product is a low density and big volume one, this
parameter is necessary to avoid blocking the discharging bucket
when all combined weigh buckets drop product at the same time.
Therefore, the combined weigh buckets can drop the product to
the collection bucket or packing machine according to this
parameter. Its range setting refers to drop times CB, and it must
drop times be set less than the value of drop times. For example: when the
CB
value of discharge times is set to 2,the parameter of discharge
time of collection bucket can be set to 1 or 2.If the target weight
is 200g and this parameter is set to 1,the weigh bucket will open
twice and drop 100g product for each time, then the collection
bucket will open for once. When the parameter is set to 2, the
weigh bucket will open twice and drop 100g product for each
time. The collection bucket will open every time of feeding, that
mean the collection bucket will open twice.

5.8.13 To set the filter coefficient of weigh bucket.

Filter coefficient is the times that A/D card samples the weight
data from load cell. If the frequency in sampling gets more, the
result will

be closer to the real weight. But A/D Card spends more time on
Filter the sampling. There are 19 grades of filter coefficient. If the
value is higher, the weighing data will be better, but it will
respond slower. The operating method is: Press it for selecting
and input a new value, and then press Enter to confirm. If
succeed, it will show OK. The range is between 0 and 15 ,and
the recommended value is 8-12.

35
5.8.14 If actual weigh of a bucket less than setting value,it will not
attend combination.(but the parameter “No load” will attend. ) It
Comb.L-limit
may provide better result in counting mode(the parameter
“distr”).The range is between 0.0 and half of “tgt wt”-0.1.

5.8.15 Feed delay time. It refers to the feeding delay of external feeding
machine (such as conveyor). When the level sensor (or main load
cell) detected no products in the “Infeed Funnel” and sended out
the dumping signal, the conveyor received and fed products into
feeding time
the indeed funnel. When the fed weight is up to the upper limit of
the level sensor (or main load cell), the starved feeding signal
will last for feeding time to stop output. The range is between 1s
and 999s.
To set a maximum weight value for main feeder. This value is
5.8.16
dispersion the upper weight value of product to be added. The range is
max
between 0.01 and 30.00kg.

5.8.17
dispersion To set a minimum weight value for main feeder. It will require to
min add product when below this value. Range: 0.01-30.00kg.

5.8.18 1.When using main sensor to detect the lack of materials(the

parameter is set to 1),the weigher will stop working if the
material weight is less than low limit by the ratio.

2.When using lever sensor to detect the lack of materials on the

top cone(the parameter is set to 0), the function L-L-L Ratio is
L-L-L ratio depending on the parameter feeding time at this time. The range
is between 1 and 99%.For example, Assuming the feeding time
is set to 10S , the L-L-L ratio is set to 10% , then LLLon/off is in
effect when the lack of material time is over 1s .

3.The function LLL on/off is invalid if the parameter of L-L-L

Ratio is setted to 0.

36
5.8.19 During the automatic zero interval, the weigh bucket participated
in combination performs zeroing automatically when operating

zero in order to keep the weighing accuracy. When the bucket is

interval cleared, it won’t attend to combination and it will show green
color. The range is between 0 and 999mins. The recommended
value is 10.

5.8.20 The load cell will weigh after settled time. Its range is between
settled time
400-3000ms.

0 means the unit is Gram;
unit 1 means the unit is Kilogram.

The recommended value is 0.

5.9.5 To set the multiple of up limit and low limit. If cannot find
proper combination and enforce the bucket to combine, it’s
mul-up limit able to control the weight of fail packages under the multiple
range of up limit and low limit. The range is between 1 and
99. The recommended value is 2.

5.9.6 Enforce discharging. The bigger this value is, the higher the
pass rate will be, but the running continuity will be worse.
Usually, the program will find another combination in the
residual buckets after an acceptable combination. If there is no
Enforce eligible combination, it will compare “the residual buckets
number” with “Enforce”. And if the residual buckets number
is greater than or equal to “Enforce”, it will choose the closest
to the target weight of a combination to enforced-dump.The
recommended value is 8.

5.9.7 During the automatic zero interval, the weigh bucket

participated in combination performs zeroing automatically
zero mode
when operating in order to keep the weighing accuracy.

5.9.11
There are 4 ways from 0 to 3.The principle is as shown in Fig
5-9-2.
0: Impulse Memory. After the Multihead Weigher receives a
“Ready” signal which is an impulse signal, the program will
memorize it. After receiving an “Input” signal, the “Ready”
signal will work. When the impulse comes down from 1 to 0,
it is valid.
1: Impulse Non-Memory. After the Multihead Weigher
receives a “Ready” signal which is an impulse signal, the
program will not memorize it if it doesn’t receive an “Input”
signal. If there is no impulse signal, it won’t Drop products
trigger way
even if it receives an “Input” signal. When the impulse
comes down from 1 to 0, it is valid.
2: Level Memory. After the Multihead Weigher receives a
“Ready” signal which is a level signal, the program will
memorize it. When it receives an “Input” signal, the
“Ready” signal will work at once. When the level is going up
from 0 to 1, it is Valid.
3: Level Non-Memory. After the Multihead Weigher receives
a “Ready” signal which is a level signal, the program will not
memorize it if it doesn’t receive and “Input” signal. If there
is no high-level signal, it won’t Drop products. After receiving
an “Input” signal. When the level is going up from 0 to 1, it
47
is Valid.

meantime, the display will show the original weight of the head or
the changing value. when you are sure that there is nothing inside
the weigh bucket, press zero key to confirm the zero weight,
cursor will move from zero to full. Here, put 1000g poise in the
weigh bucket ,and then press full ,the display will stably show
1000.0. Then, take away the poise, the cursor will move back to
initial
zero and show the value as 0.0, which means the calibration for
head NO. 1 has been finished successfully. At last, put a less
weight poise such as 100g poise in the weigh bucket, check if the
display will show the correct weight. If yes, that means the
calibration has been done well. Enter next calibration head number
with the same process as last operation. If the calibration work
bad, it is able to do the calibration again until it is satisfy.

52
Note: The whole calibration process should be done under an
environment without wind and vibration.

5.10.2 After long time running, if the zero weighing work is not good, it
is able to select Re-calibration. From Calibration Menu to update
the zero point, just select the bucket number, press zero to

6.1 Parameter setting method

Announce: The method below is only for reference, please set parameter on your practice.

6.1.1 Advanced parameter and control panel

Finished the advanced parameter setting, set parameters for your requirement.

tgt wt, up limit, L-limit , feed time, drop times, these parameters are easily set according to your
actual requirement. Here are some commonly-used methods of parameter setting.

mul-up limit The value is set depending on the up limit and L-limit . If the two

(5.9.5) parameters are set as big as enough, set mul-up limit to 1. On the contrary,
if the program can’t find appropriate combination frequently, set mul-up
limit to 2 or 3, the recommended value is 2.

Enforce Adjusting this value can adjust the pass rate and working efficiency. Only

(5.9.6) when the residual bucket number is greater than or equal to the value of
Enforce, the enforced-dumping will be performed. The bigger this value is,
the higher the pass rate is, but the slower the efficiency is. E.g. to the 14
heads weigher, If we set Enforce to 10 and the last combination used four
heads (7,12,13,14), the coming combination can be searched from the
left 10 buckets. If the system can’t find out the applicable combination,
comparing residual buckets number(10) to the value of Enforce (10), it’s
equal that Enforced dumping is performed (the discharged combination is
most close to Target Weight). According to the number of bucket, when the

collection If the weigher is equipped with a collection bucket, please set value to 1,if

(5.9.1) not, set the value to 0

trigger way According to the discharge single of convey connected with weigher, we

(5.9.11) select 0,1,2,3 the four pattern, when the convey sends signals in the way of

motor of FB There are 5 modes (0, 1, 2 ,3 4) to be chosen.4 is the factory setting. One

motor of WB cycle of the motor operating is divided into what you set (please refer to

60
motor of CB Fig 5-9-3). The bigger the segment value is, the more fast the motor runs.

6.1.2 Program setting

Finished the advanced parameter setting, set parameters for your requirement.

tgt wt, up limit, l-limit, feed time, dis times, these parameters are easily set according to your
actual requirement. Here are some commonly-used methods of parameter setting.

Set it according to the speed of the packaging machine and the actual
Speed(5.8.6)
situation of the weigher. when the packing speed is slower than the
running speed of the weigher, set it corresponding with the packaging
speed; If opposite, set the value according to the weighing speed
refers to paragraph 5.8 Specification.

discr (5.8.8) Discr is set up to find out the deviation between display weight and
actual weight. actual wt= display WT +bias wt . In most cases, the
value of this parameter is 0 ,the display WT is accordance with the
actual WT, If not, adjust other parameters to set the bias WT to 0 or
Taken 50 or 100 bags from the results when weigher weighing,
calculating the average deviation between display WT and actual
WT.

MF amp Set the four parameters according to the weight of weigh bucket.
Usually, in one working cycle, if all the weigh buckets are fed enough
(according to the percentage set by No load or 1/3 of the tgt wt), the
LF amp four ones are set satisfactorily. If not, adjust their values according to
the actual situation. Usually, we set MF amp 45-60, LF amp around
50, MF time around 20-30, LF time around 200-300ms.Actually, MF
MF time
amp and MF time, LF amp and LF time the two group parameters are
connected with each other respectively. If one increases, the other
should decrease accordingly. When the setting value is too high and
LF time
works a long time, the coil of main vibrator and linear vibrator may be

61
burned out, the transformer on main board will become hot which
maybe shut off the weigher.

AFC It’s Used to set the automatic feeder control model. Please refer to the

(5.8.37) next Fig 6.2.usually, we set the value of “AFC” to 0。If you choose
AFCT, AFCIor AFCR, please read the following contents carefully.

No tracting
tgt No.
AFCT No. limit
Rst int
AFC tgt wt
AFCI wt limit
Rst int

AFCR T-dis

Fig 6.2

Usually we set AFCT tgt No. ( 5.8.38 ) to 2.9-3.5 for the optimal
AFCT
combination of buckets is 2.9-3.5. AFCT Rst int (5.8.40) is set according to
actual needs, which generally set to 10.

AFCT No. limit (5.8.39) is set based on the result of AFCT Target NO.×
AFCT Rst int,Generally speaking, the bigger the AFCT Rst int is, the
bigger the AFCT No. limit will be. Refer to the previous settings, the
recommended value is 4.0. In AFCT mode, after succeeding in setting
the 3 parameters, there is no need to change the other parameters for the
product with various target weights. The amplitude of linear feeder pan will
be adjusted automatically during the operation

AFCT PROCESS

1. Adjustment for too big LF amplitude:

The total discharged buckets number after Rst int > AFCT tgt No.× AFCT Rst int+ AFCT No.

62
limit, →Amplitude of total linear feeder pans -1

2. Adjustment for too small LF amplitude:

The total discharged buckets number after Rst int < AFCT tgt No× AFCT Rst int + AFCT limit NO
→Amplitude of total linear feeder pans +1

3. Keep proper LF amplitude:

Discharged buckets number after Rst int = AFCT tgt No× AFCT Rst int + AFCT No. limit
→Amplitude of total linear feeder pans without change

AFCI Usually we set AFCI tgt wt (5.8.41) around 1/5—1/3 of target WT. The
value of AFCI Rst int (5.8.43) is recommended to be set to 10.

AFCI wt limit (5.8.42) is supposed to be set in accordance with the

following rules: AFCI tgt wt × (1/6-1/10) × AFCI Rst int).In AFCI model,
the above 3 parameters should be set before operation according to the
target value (with different target values, the AFCI tgt wt and AFCI wt limit
should be changed). The linear feeder amplitude will be adjusted
automatically during the operation.

AFCI PROCESS:

1. Adjustment for too big LF amplitude of every single bucket:

Accumulated weight in a bucket after Rst int > AFCI tgt wt× AFCI Rst int + AFCI wt limit →
Single linear feeder amplitude -1

2. Adjustment for too small LF amplitude of every single bucket

Accumulated weight in a bucket after Rst int < AFCI tgt wt× AFCI Rst int + AFCI wt limit →
Single linear feeder amplitude +1

3. Keeping proper LF amplitude of every single bucket

Accumulated weight in a bucket after Rst int = AFCI tgt wt× AFCI Rst int + AFCI wt limit →
Single linear feeder amplitude without change

63
No load (5.8.9), No load is a percentage which is set up to ensure that the total weight of
all the buckets is greater than the target weight, the rules we set the value
No select(5.8.10)
is: No load ≥ (1/numbers of buckets)× 100%. Usually the value is between
15%-25%. The value of No select is proposed to 1000 depend on our
experience.

The four parameters are set according to the floating of products and target
FB delay(5.8.21)
weight. The setting principle is that make sure discharging time of each
WB delay(5.8.23) segment should be less than the delay time firstly, second set the value as
MB delay(5.8.25) small as possible based on the first principle to high the speed of weigher.
From testing many times for different products, usually, we set delay time
CB delay(5.8.27)
to 150-200 (CB delay:600).
after CB delay

(5.8.29)

discharge delay These two parameters should be set up to observe the following rules:

(5.8.25)
discharge delay + discharge time <= the total time for the products
discharge time discharged into the packing machine

(5.8.26)

dispersion max The two parameters are set according to the single vol. and weight of one
product. The setting principle is: when the product with big vol. and light
(5.8.16)
weight, the two values should be small. on the contrary, set the two

parameter to big value。
(5.8.17)

As indicated in last passage, we introduced methods to set the part of

motor. After setting well the motor, we select the motor part for actual

1、 Explanation

Ready:multihead weigher has found the best weight to be ready to discharge. It will output
the continuous switch signal.
Drop: When the multihead weigher finishes the discharge, it will send out one pulse switch
signal. The time of this signal can be set on “time setting”.
OverWT: When the system set the overweight that is over than the requirement, it will release
pulse switch signal whose time is the sum of Ready signal and Drop signal.
Request dropping: While requiring the discharge, the spring signal should reach multihead
weigher. It can be pulse signal or continuous switch signal. Its style can be set on
“system setting”
Input: The level of product is less than the system setting, the multihead weigher will give
out the continuous switch signal. Its working time can be set on “system setting”.

9 Maintenance
In order to make sure the machine running well and extend the service life, you must do
well in daily Maintenance work. Do swift off the power before maintaining and checking. All
operators must be trained through expert course.
[1] Non-maintenance personnel do not do teardown of the machine.
[2] All the components touch with product directly should be cleaned after daily use.
[3] Before running the machine, make sure there is nothing on the hook of weigh buckets, and
clean out the hook after working.
[4] Add edible oil on the joint of bucket every week to keep the bucket running smoothly.
[5] Clean the dust on the machine every two months.

10 Transportation and storage

[1] Do carefully when transporting, loading and unloading the vibrators and buckets, Inhibit to
throw, chuck, collision and inversion and prevent from the Shaking intensely and drench.
[2] Multi-heads Weigher should be keep at the temperature between -10℃~40℃, relative
humidity is less than 85%. The air must not contain causticity.
