Sympathy
I lay in sorrow, deep distressed
My grief a proud man heard
His looks were cold.
He gave me gold.
But not a kindly word.
My sorrow passed – I paid him back
The gold he gave to me.
Then stood erect and spoke my thanks
And blessed his charity.
I lay in want, in grief and pain.
A poor man passed my way.
He bound my head.
He gave me bread.
He watched me night and day.
How shall I pay him back again
For all, he did to me ?
Oh ! Gold is great. But greater far
Is heavenly sympathy !

an argument started between them as to who is stronger between the two. To end the dispute,
they decided to test their strengths. They saw a man walking on a dirt path. Both agreed on
the challenge to make the man remove his coat. First, the wind used its strength by blowing
hard. As it blew hard, the man caught hold of his coat tightly.
The wind blew even harder. The harder it blew, the more tightly the man held his coat. Finally,
the wind grew tired and gave up. It could not remove the coat. Now it was the sun's turn to
show its strength. It started shining brightly and raised the temperature. The man started
feeling hot and loosened his coat. The sun shone more brightly, and the man began to sweat.

name. No one liked to talk to him. So I hit upon a plan to reform him. Whenever he used
a bad word, I objected to it and made him say ‘sorry’. Gradually, he got tired of his
apology . He began to control his speech. Within a week, he was speaking kindly and
softly. It was a great change which made both of us happy and surprised.
