    YEARS 4-6 - ICAS ACADEMIC COMPETITIONS 2024

    Dear Parents/Caregivers,

    Students in Years 4 to 6 are able to participate in ICAS competitions in 2024, providing the opportunity for students
    to gain a measure of their own achievements in an external assessment situation.
     These are COMPETITION events to be held under test conditions.
     ICAS WILL BE SAT ON THE SITTING DATE AFTER SCHOOL HOURS (3:30pm until 4:30pm).
     If you know in advance that your child will not be present after school on the sitting date, please DO NOT
    register.
     No late registrations will be accepted and no refunds under any circumstances.

    These are voluntary and should only be entered after consultation and agreement between the
    parents/caregivers and the child.

    ICAS competitions will be completed online for Years 4-6 only. Students will need access to their Chromebook
    (charged). ICAS tests cannot be sat after the sitting window.

    The ICAS assessments are designed to assess the student’s ability to apply classroom learning in new contexts,
    using higher-order thinking and problem solving skills. They are designed to recognise and reward academic
    excellence. Students are asked to demonstrate a deeper, integrated and thorough level of learning. There is an
    emphasis on challenge and extension for the most able students under time restrictions. Further information

    All students receive a certificate of achievement and performance information and have an opportunity to
    win medals.

    COST: $20 per test per student. Payment is required at time of completion of the permission slip. Please remember
    to return to the slip after payment to press submit. As this is an extra-curricular activity, it is not included in the
    2024 excursion programme invoice.

    1. ICAS English (Years 4-6, online)


    a. Year 6 – Monday 12th August
    b. Year 5 – Wednesday 14th August
    c. Year 4 – Tuesday 13th August

    2. ICAS Science (Years 4-6, online)


    a. Year 6 – Monday 19th August
    b. Year 5 – Wednesday 21st August
    c. Year 4 – Tuesday 20th August

    3. ICAS Mathematics (Years 4-6 online)


    a. Year 6 – Monday 26th August
    b. Year 5 – Wednesday 28th August
    c. Year 4 – Tuesday 27th August

    Closing date for registration is Monday 10th June 2024.


    No late registrations will be accepted and no refunds under any circumstances.
