1.1 APPLICATIONS
A. Corzan® Ventilation/Exhaust Duct Piping and Fittings are intended for use in:
1. Corrosive fume handling systems at temperatures up to 200°F.
2. Chemical processing, plating, water and wastewater treatment, laboratory, and other
industrial and institutional applications involving corrosive fume collection, transfer, and
reclamation.
3. Semiconductor Tool Venting, and other cleanroom applications that require a FM 4910
specification tested material.
A. Round Duct Piping Diameters 6” thru 24” will be extruded and of seamless construction and
correspond to the table below:
Page | 1
B. Round Duct Pipe Diameters larger than 24” shall be fabricated from Corzan® Sheet
conforming to cell class 24446, as defined by ASTM D-1784 and butt-welded with longitudinal
seams. Fabricated duct shall be made from Corzan® Sheet according to the guidelines seen
in 1.2D.
C. Square Ducts, Fittings, Fume Hoods, Fume Scrubbers, Fans, Blast Gates, and custom
profiles shall be fabricated from Corzan® Sheet conforming to Cell Class 24446, as defined
by ASTM D-1784 and butt-welded with longitudinal seams. Fabricated duct shall be
manufactured from Corzan® Sheet according to the guidelines seen in 1.2D.
D. Fabricated ducts shall be made from Corzan® Sheet according to the guidelines:
E. Fabricated fittings like elbows and bevels shall have a minimum center-line radius of 1.5
times the duct diameter unless special ordered through fabricator.
A. The negative pressure ratings shown in the table below incorporate a 1.5:1 safety factor.
Note that maximum values stated are for extruded duct pipe only. Consideration should
be given to system design, method of fabrication, and joining which may require additional
system derating. Note that full vacuum = -14.7 psig

B. The positive pressure ratings shown in the table below incorporate a 1.5:1 safety factor.
Note that maximum values stated are for extruded duct pipe only. Consideration should
be given to system design, method of fabrication, and joining which may require additional
system derating.
C. Additional physical material properties not seen in this specification (modulus of elasticity,
tensile strength, compressive strength, electrical performance, etc.) can be found by:

A. All socket type joints shall be assembled with solvent cements that meet or exceed the
requirements of ASTM F493 and primers that meet or exceed the requirements of ASTM
F656.
C. Solvent cement shall be listed by NSF International for use with potable water and approved
by the pipe and fittings manufacturers.
B. The designer/contractor(s) shall consult the Corzan® CPVC Chemical Resistance Chart for
guidance on chemical resistance by visiting https://www.corzan.com/en-us/corzan-cpvc-
chemical-resistance-chart

1.6 CHEMICAL COMPATABILITY
A. The general contractor(s) shall notify all subcontractors to use ancillary building products
(including, but not limited to: fire stops, thread sealants, mold inhibitors, leak detectors,
coated hangers, insulation etc.) that are chemically compatible with Lubrizol CPVC
compounds.
1. This shall be accomplished by sending the link in 1.5B
B. The contractor(s) shall consult the FBC System Compatible program for guidance on
compatibility by visiting www.FBCSystemCompatible.com.
B. Corzan® CPVC ducting systems meet the V-0 burning class requirements of UL 94.
C. Corzan® CPVC ducting systems comply with self-extinguishing requirements of ASTM D635.

PART 3 – EXECUTION
A. Ducting shall be designed and installed with consideration for linear expansion and
contraction of the duct. Failure to properly account for linear thermal expansion and
contraction can result in excessive compressive stress on the system.
B. Drains must be installed where accumulation of moisture is expected and at low points in the
system; these locations shall be specified on the drawings.
C. Insulation
1. All insulation materials shall be chemically compatible with Corzan® CPVC

3.2 QUALITY CONTROL
A. Prior to beginning construction, the installing contractor must submit to the contracting officer
documentation that lists personnel who have successfully completed formal Lubrizol CPVC
training conducted by an authorized Lubrizol CPVC manufacturer’s representative. The
training documentation shall be specific to the manufacturer of the Corzan®
Ventilation/Exhaust Duct Piping and Fittings. Personnel’s training documentation must be
current and have been updated within the past two (2) years. (Note: this training does not
imply compliance with any local or state contractor certification or licensing laws.)
B. Installing contractor shall visually inspect assembled joints to verify the presence and usage
of appropriate solvent cement.
A. ASTM D1784 Standard Specification for Rigid Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (PVC) Compounds and
Chlorinated Poly (Vinyl Chloride) (CPVC) Compounds.
C. ASTM F493 Standard Specification for Solvent Cements for Chlorinated Poly (Vinyl Chloride)
