CONTENT DESCRIPTION

Elements of climate: a detailed study must be done on the various elements of climate given
below. And students must assign to identify the methods of integration of such elements into
their design development process to produce climate responsive architecture.

1. Temperature & Architecture

2. Humidity & Architecture
3. Vapor pressure & Architecture
4. Precipitation & Architecture
5. Sky condition & Architecture
6. Solar radiation & Architecture
7. Wind direction & Architecture
8. Vegetation & & Architecture
9. Geographic condition & Architecture

Instruments for measuring climatic data:

1. Thermometer for measuring air and sea surface temperature

2. Barometer for measuring atmospheric pressure
3. Hygrometer for measuring humidity
4. Anemometer for measuring wind speed
5. Pyranometer for measuring solar radiation
6. Rain gauge for measuring liquid precipitation over a set period of time.
7. Wind sock for measuring general wind speed and wind direction
8. Wind vane, also called a weather vane or a weathercock: it shows which way the wind is
blowing.
9. Disdrometer for measuring drop size distribution
10. Transmissometer for measuring visibility
11. Ceilometer for measuring cloud ceiling
