DESCRIBING PEOPLE

Describing People’s Appearance

How to describe someone:

Begin with the person’s physical appearance, e.g. height, build, hair, eye color, nose, etc. Then, go into
more detail, e.g. hair length, the shape of the nose, etc.

Try to be as specific as possible, for example, rather just saying that someone has blond hair, think about
what shade of blond hair the person has, e.g. light blond. Also, think about the hair length and hair style.
Giving more information about each physical attribute will help your description sound better.
