Our 2023 Colour of the Year will transcend into autumn/winter and remain a
key colour for the European market. Driven by the mental wellness
movement, this spiritual and balancing colour will resonate with consumers
seeking mediative sensorial stimuli. Danish multidisciplinary studio Tableau
created Post Service, a spatial design concept that addresses grief and death
for Copenhagenʼs 3daysofdesign event. Using soothing pastels, materials and
forms, it explores the process of healing and nourishment. We expect Digital
Lavender to connect directly to the growing care economy.

In A/W 23/24, red will step up and broaden into a range of bright, mid and
dark tones. Astro Dust will be the most directional red of the season, and it
will be used as a sophisticated gender-inclusive mid-tone. Luxury brands such
as Valentino and Robyn Lynch are taking the lead applying this intriguing
colour to menswear and womenswear collections. This off-kilter red has a
pink undertone and a subtle organic quality, which gives it a relaxed and
grounding energy.

Malachite

Blue-infused greens will gain traction and evolve into Malachite, a deep and
saturated jewel tone. We forecast the dark muted jade tone of Wavellite for
2022, which will connect to the outdoor boom. By 2023 greens will intensify
becoming more chromatic and aligning with inclusive # clubhouse themes.
Amsterdam-based streetwear brand Daily Paper is using deep green within
its new London store design and throughout its current product line. Its
recent collection, From Africa to the World, showcased the founders'
heritage and gave collegiate-themed apparel an all-inclusive message.

Wholegrain
Europe Key Colour A/W 23/24

Coloro / Pantone

030-41-18 18-0933 TCX

Brown will remain an important core colour for the European market, but it
will shi away from dark # truffle tones to more characterful tinted mid-tones.
Wholegrain is a yellow-infused mustard brown, which confirms the ongoing
importance of earthy tones. Studio Hagenhall's recent transformation of a
London townhouse into a home inspired by 1970s California is a great example
of how this colour can evoke warmth and character through thoughtful
material applications.

Wholegrain: usage
Update mid-tone browns by shifting to a
yellow-infused mustard tone.

This colour works best with natural fibres such

as cotton, linen and wool, and itʼs a natural fit
for knitwear and jersey. Wholegrain is also a
great update for utility, outdoor and denim-
driven streetwear, and it comes to life in satin,
metallic and velvet finishes, making it a
surprising choice for occasionwear. For beauty,
infuse this colour into textural ingredients for

scrubs, soaps and balms. Use it in its metallic
form Kansa Metal for colour cosmetics and
facial tools. A versatile earth tone for the
home, use it to add warmth to wood, glass and
metal surfaces, and explore tarnished and
smoked effects. Wholegrain can also inject a
natural feel into cra ed ceramics, textiles and
homewares.

Apricot Crush

Orange will remain key for the European market, evolving from autumnal
tones back to zesty levels. Apricot Crush is warm and fruity, connecting
directly to wellness rituals that drive a sense of joy. This mood-boosting
colour is activating and restorative, with a transseasonal quality. It is inspired
by the orange tones present in Liquid Crystal Environment, a work by Gustav
Metzger recently exhibited at Hauser and Wirth's Somerset gallery in the UK.
The installation, created using magnified liquid crystals, immerses the viewer
in psychedelic colours and patterns, which were highly influential during
London's 1960s cultural scene.
