Park.It is contiguous with Dihing-Patkai Elephant Reserve
of Assam
4 Sonitpur ER Assam It borders the Kameng Elephant Reserve of Arunachal
Pradesh.
5 Dihing-Patkai ER Assam It borders with the South Arunachal Elephant Reserve of
Arunachal Pradesh in the eastern region and Singphan
Elephant Reserve in the South
6 Kaziranga – Karbi Anglong ER Assam It is a contiguous habitat with the southern boundary
bordering with the Dhansiri-Lungding Elephant Reserve in
Assam.
7 Dhansiri-Lungding ER Assam It includes Karbi-Anglong East, Karbi – Anglong West,
Nagaon South and North Cachar Hills Forest Divisions. It
is contiguous habitat with the Northern boundary
bordering Kaziranga-Karbi Anglong Elephant Reserve in
Assam and Eastern boundary bordering Intanki Elephant
Reserve of Nagaland.
8 Chirang-Ripu ER Assam It includes Aie valley, Manas National Park.It is a
contiguous habitat with the western boundary bordering
Buxa Tiger Reserve (part of Eastern Dooars Elephant
Reserve in West Bengal) and northern boundary
bordering with Phipsoo Wildlife Sanctuary of Bhutan.
9 Badalkhol-Tamorpingla Chhattisgarh It includes Semarsot Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamor-pingla
(Sarguja-Jashpur) Wildlife Sanctuary and Badalkol Wildlife Sanctuaries are
part of the Forest Divisions

11 Singhbhum ER Jharkhand It includes Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary. Singhbhum Elephant
Reserve has an area of 13440 km2 which is the largest
Elephant Reserve in the country and borders Mayubhanj
Elephant Reserve of Odisha on the Southern side and
Mayurjharna Elephant Reserve of West Bengal on the
Western side. Saranda forest is the biggest sal forest in
Asia.
12 Mysore ER Karnataka It includes Bannerghatta National Park, Cauvery Wildlife
Sanctuary, BRT Wildlife Sanctuary, Bhadra Wildlife
Sanctuary, Bandipur National Park, Nugu Wildlife
Sanctuary, Nagarhole National Park ,Brahmagiri Wildlife
Sanctuary ,Talacauvery Wildlife Sanctuary, Pushpagiri
Wildlife Sanctuary. Mysuru Elephant Reserve has an area
of 8055.94 km2 and is located in the
Southern region of the Karnataka bordering with the
Wayanad Elephant
Reserve of Kerala and Nilgiri Elephant Reserve of Tamil
Nadu in the South.

13 Dandeli ER Karnataka It includes Dandeli Wildlife sanctuary


14 Wayanad ER Kerala It includes Wayanad Wildlife sanctuary.It borders with the
Mysuru Elephant Reserve of Karnataka in the North along
with Nilgiri Elephant Reserve of Tamil Nadu in the South-
West and Nilambur Elephant Reserve of Kerala in the
South.
15 Nilambur ER Kerala It includes Silent Valley National Park. It borders the
Wayanad Elephant Reserve of Kerala in the North along
with Coimbatore and Nilgiri Elephant Reserves of Tamil
Nadu in the East.
16 Anamudi ER Kerala It includes Parambikulam Wildlife sanctuary, Peechi
Wildlife sanctuary, Chinnar Wildlife sanctuary, Thattekkad
Wildlife sanctuary, Chimmony Wildlife sanctuary, Idukki
Wildlife sanctuary, Eravikulam National Park. It borders
the Anamalai Elephant Reserve of Tamil Nadu in the East
and Periyar Elephant Reserve of Kerala in the South.

17 Periyar Kerala It includes Periyar Tiger Reserve, Neyyar, Peppara and


Shendaruny Wildlife Sanctuaries. It borders with the
Anamudi Elephant Reserve of Kerala in the North and
Periyar Sivilliputhur Elephant Reserve of Tamil Nadu in the
East.
18 Garo Hills ER Meghalaya It includes Balphakram National Park, Nokrek National
Park, Siju Wildlife Sanctuary
19 Intanki ER Nagaland It has contiguous habitat with the Dhansiri – Lungding
Elephant Reserve of Assam
20 Singphan ER Nagaland It is the smallest Elephant Reserve in the country. It is
located in the Northern part of the state bordering with
the Dihing-Patkai Elephant Reserve of Assam
21 Mayurbhanj ER Odisha It borders the Singhbhum Elephant Reserve of Jharkhand
in the North.

It borders with the Periyar Elephant Reserve of Kerala in
the West.

in the South-West
33 Eastern Dooars ER West Bengal It encompasses Buxa Tiger Reserve.It borders with the
Chirang – Ripu Elephant Reserve of Assam in the East.
The Indian elephant Elephas maximus occurs in the central and southern Western Ghats, North-east India, eastern India and northern India and in some
parts of southern peninsular India. It is included in Schedule I of the Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 and in Appendix I of the Convention on
International Trade in Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna (CITES). It occurs in 16 of the 28 states in the country. Project Elephant was launched by the
Government of India in the year 1992 as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme with following objectives: To protect elephants, their habitat & corridors,To
address issues of man-animal conflict,Welfare of captive elephants.The Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change provides the financial and
technical support to major elephant range states in the country through Project Elephant
