Eligibility:
i) The candidate must have secured minimum cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 7.5 on
the scale of 10 (or minimum 75% marks) or equivalent at both Bachelor’s and master’s degree.
In addition to above, the candidate should have qualified GATE/GPAT/ NET during the last 5
years. For SC/ST/PH Candidates, CGPA requirement will be 7.0 on the scale of 10 (or 70%
marks) or equivalent.
ii) The candidate should be less than 30 years of age as on the date of admission. However age
relaxable of 5 years would be applicable to candidates belonging to SC/ST, Women and PH
category in succession.
SELECTION CRITERIA:
(i) Career Marks : 60 Marks
(ii) Interview : 40 Marks
Subject Knowledge in the Interview: 20; Previous Publications: 10; Proposed Ph.D Synopsis:

Candidates should secure a minimum of 50 Marks out of the Total Marks of 100 (Carrier (60
Marks) and Interview (40 Marks)) to be declared as qualified.

 Note: Unlike other academic programmes, mere possession of required degrees and a superior
academic record do not guarantee admission of a student to the Ph.D Programme. Apart
from academic record, the Departmental Academic Committee (DAC) will take into
consideration the research aptitude, ability to work in a team, subject interest, availability
of supervisors, facilities in the department and the research focus while selecting
candidates to the Ph.D Program.

RESERVATION:
Reservation for Candidates in Ph.D Admission belongs to SC/ST Category/ Physically
Challenged/ Disabled Candidates are carried out as per the AICTE Guidelines/ Govt.
Rules.

SUPERVISOR (For PhD Registration):

i) All candidates for Ph.D degree are required to carry out their research work under the
guidance of one/two supervisors. However, in case of inter- disciplinary research (within
the same department or across two departments) a second supervisor may be appointed.
ii) When there are two supervisors, one of them will be called the Principal Supervisor.
Ordinarily the Principal Supervisor will be a faculty member of the registering
department. However, in deserving cases the DAC may recommend a faculty member of
another department of the VSSUT as Co-Supervisor.
iii) Principal Supervisors shall be regular faculty member of this University with Ph.D
degree and Co-Supervisor shall be chosen from the faculty members of this University
with Ph.D degree or other recognize Government Institutions/Universities/ R & D
Organizations/Industries with the approval of the Vice-Chancellor.
iv) The faculty member who wants to be a Supervisor/Co-supervisor, he/she must have
completed his/her probation period with one-year Post-Doctoral experience.
v) The allocation of the Supervisor(s) for a selected student shall be decided by the
Departmental Academic Committee in a formal manner depending on the number of
students per faculty member, available specialization among the faculty supervisors, and
the research interest of the student as indicated during interview by the student. The
option form indicating name of the candidate, area of interest and choice of specialization
(not name of the supervisor) may be exercised before the selection. The
allotment/allocation of Supervisor shall not be left to the individual student/teacher.

application fee of Rs.1000/- (Rs.500/- in case of SC/ST candidates) for completing online
application. Filled in & signed copy of the online application form along with the relevant
documents as mentioned below should reach Dean, CDCE, VSSUT, Burla, Pin 768018, by
05.08.2024, 5 PM, through Speed / Regd. Post only. The envelope containing the application
should be super scribed as “APPLICATION FOR Ph. D. PROGRAM – 2024 UNDER ADF
(AICTE)”

1) Hard copy of duly filled in and signed online application form.

2) Self-Attested copy of certificate of 10th/ Equivalent Examination.
3) Self-Attested copy of certificate of +2 Sc. / Equivalent Examination.
4) Self-Attested copy of certificate of B.Tech / Equivalent Examination.
5) Self-Attested copy of certificate of M.Tech/ Equivalent Examination.
6) Self-Attested copy of Grade sheets / Mark sheets of the 10th / Equivalent Examination.
7) Self-Attested copy of Grade sheets / Mark sheets of the +2 Sc. / Equivalent Examination.
8) Self-Attested copy of Grade sheets / Mark sheets of all the semesters of B.Tech / Equivalent
Examination.
9) Self-Attested copy of Grade sheets / Mark sheets of all the semesters of M.Tech/Equivalent
Examination.
10) Self-Attested copy of valid GATE/NET Score.
11) Self-Attested copy of SC/ST caste certificate, if applicable.

The Candidates, who have not passed the final PG Examination, but have already appeared the
above examination, shall submit the following documents in place of the documents mentioned
in Sl. Nos.5 and 9. (i) Appeared certificate of final Semester of M.Tech Examination from the
Head of the institution in the original. (ii) Grade Sheet/ Mark sheets of all the Semester of
M.Tech Examination except final Semester duly authenticated by the Head of Institution.
