Students are encouraged to learn and become more motivated when social media platforms are used in the

classroom. Key elements that support educational development include learning through video chats,
readily available e-books, online notes, and instructional films on YouTube. With social media making it

possible to learn from reputable organizations from any location, distance learning is one of the greatest

options. 2. Improve Creative Element - social media helps pupils develop their creative skills by allowing

them to learn and then practice on their own. Quite commonly, a student's latent potential is exposed when

he or she begins to snap images and use internet editing skills to make them more visually appealing. Many

students have intriguing hobbies that they share online through films and photographs, helping them

discover their potential for a profession. 3. Boost Academic Performance - Through data and information

gathering, social media has a significant positive impact on students' academic performance as well as their

knowledge base. When school assigns projects, students use a variety of web resources to gather

knowledge in order to solve the assignments.

On the other hand, the negative impact or effect of social media in education are; 1. Causes

Distraction - One important issue that is starting to cause mental distress and obstruction is social media

platforms. Students these days often find it difficult to focus when studying and prefer to spend their time on

social media. All of this suggests wasting time without achieving anything. Because they are more focused

on using social media platforms, students frequently fail to turn in their work within the allotted time. 2.

Reduces Learning and Research Capability - Due to the widespread usage of social media, students these

days rely more on these sites than on books, journals, or notes to find information and knowledge.

Students' reading habits, learning, and research skills are declining because it is easy to acquire info online.

acknowledged that the growing influence of ICT on our society is also having an impact on teaching and

learning through many approaches. Hawkridge (1990) outlines a number of justifications to use ICT in the

classroom. The societal justification has to do with getting pupils ready for their position within the

community. Moreover, Using ICT in the classroom increases student engagement and retention of material:

Students are more involved in their work when ICT is included into the classroom. This is due to the fact

approach is one such method, in which students study the material at home and apply it in the classroom

through hands-on activities. Students can use ICT to efficiently learn at home by watching videos, and they

can use it to participate in enjoyable learning activities in school. By monitoring students' grades via ICT,

teachers can also test out various teaching strategies and observe firsthand how they affect the students'

learning. Therefore, ICT in education is useful and beneficial however there are impacts whether positive or

II. Benefits and Challenges

What is the positive impact of ICT in education?

1. Facilitates Learning
Learners now have rapid access to information thanks to the development of devices like phones
and tablets, which facilitates their ability to study. Students can finish school tasks and projects more
quickly and effectively with the aid of the internet. One of the intended benefits of technology for
students is this. In this day and age, kids can eliminate the stress of schooling by simply asking a
custom service to "do my homework for me," among other advantages.

2. Contributes to Teaching

The introduction of smart boards has raised the caliber of instruction in classrooms recently. Teachers
can offer an infinite amount of material on these boards to assist pupils better understand the subject.
They also provide teachers with access to Microsoft PowerPoint and other fantastic educational
software.
3. Develops the minds of students

A person's intellect is their most valuable possession. It functions in a way that enhances what you
are able to accomplish with it the more you use it. Put another way, by giving pupils access to an
endless supply of knowledge on the internet, technology fosters intellectual growth in the classroom.

What are the negative impact of ICT in Education?

1. Kills students Creativity

The internet's vast wealth of knowledge is a fantastic learning resource, but it can also stifle
innovation. Sometimes, in order to acquire good scores, students just copy and paste the information.

2. Distraction

Students spend most of their time on social media and watching television instead of studying. The
majority of kids these days are so addicted to social media that they would rather spend their class
time on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, or Twitter than paying attention to what is being taught.

3. Misinformation

The Internet offers a seemingly endless supply of information, but there's no assurance that what
pupils are learning is what they actually need. Anything may be posted online by anyone, and it can
be very challenging to distinguish between false material that is solely intended to gain attention and
the real thing.
