enable themselves to acquire knowledge and gain literacy by their own capabilities. Through ICT,
educational opportunities and resources that were previously inaccessible to kids from underprivileged
backgrounds can now be accessed. Computers, the Internet, and other information and communication

scenarios (Lowther et al. 2008; Weert and Tatnall 2005). ICT makes it possible for people to pursue their
educational goals regardless of their socioeconomic background by reducing the digital gap. Indeed,
Information and communication technology have a numerous amount of significance in today’s world. In
ICT it allows the students to maximize the use and access of social media. The reason is social media has
a tremendously quantity of access in information, communication, and entertainment. The usage of social
media can have impact on the students who uses it in classroom. Information Communication and
technology can be usable yet can also influence and infiltrate a student’s mind rather people productivity.
In only a few short years, social media technology has advanced to an unprecedented degree,
changing not just how we communicate but also how we engage with others. The social media has a
extensively purpose, it refers to the methods by which individuals engage with one another in virtual
communities and networks to generate, circulate, and/or exchange ideas and information. However, in
today’s world social media have impact especially to the students who continuously harnessing it inside the
classroom. For instances, Distraction, reduces learning and research capability, and impact on health are
the negative impacts of social media in the classroom while the positive effect will be motivation in online
learning, improve creative element and can boost academic performance. These impacts are brought by
the usage of social media in Information and Communication technologies. In the modern generation the
application of IT has been continuously fostering and altering our daily lives allowing as to depend on it.
Social media and education may strengthen one another whether used effectively. Social media is
always creating new learning opportunities for pupils. Social media has a lot of advantageous benefits on
learning. However, there are certain disadvantages to the same. Positive & Negative Effect of social media
On Education according to Ajay Singh. The positive impact rather effects are 1. Motivate Online Learning -
Students are encouraged to learn and become more motivated when social media platforms are used in the
classroom. Key elements that support educational development include learning through video chats,
readily available e-books, online notes, and instructional films on YouTube. With social media making it
possible to learn from reputable organizations from any location, distance learning is one of the greatest
options. 2. Improve Creative Element - social media helps pupils develop their creative skills by allowing
them to learn and then practice on their own. Quite commonly, a student's latent potential is exposed when
he or she begins to snap images and use internet editing skills to make them more visually appealing. Many
students have intriguing hobbies that they share online through films and photographs, helping them
discover their potential for a profession. 3. Boost Academic Performance - Through data and information
gathering, social media has a significant positive impact on students' academic performance as well as their
knowledge base. When school assigns projects, students use a variety of web resources to gather
On the other hand, the negative impact or effect of social media in education are; 1. Causes
Distraction - One important issue that is starting to cause mental distress and obstruction is social media
platforms. Students these days often find it difficult to focus when studying and prefer to spend their time on
social media. All of this suggests wasting time without achieving anything. Because they are more focused
on using social media platforms, students frequently fail to turn in their work within the allotted time. 2.
Reduces Learning and Research Capability - Due to the widespread usage of social media, students these
days rely more on these sites than on books, journals, or notes to find information and knowledge.
Students' reading habits, learning, and research skills are declining because it is easy to acquire info online.
3. Impact on Health - The use of social networking platforms carelessly can have negative impacts on a
person's health, both physically and mentally. Students' eyes can suffer from not eating on time, getting too
little sleep, and spending too much time on their phones or laptops. Students that engage in such behavior
become sluggish and unmotivated to learn or even go out and socialize. It is advisable for parents to
monitor their children's internet usage, as should educational institutions. Students who use social media
excessively run the risk of developing poor mental health, poor posture, eye strain, and physical and
emotional stress.
are the prominent fatality. ICT in education, the students become distracted and lack attention in terms of
learning. Most of the time the students focus on their digital gadgets while their teacher is discussing in
front. Digitalization entails providing unrestricted access to a multitude of tools and information sources,
including social media, chat room and websites. Consequently, these platforms detract from the topic at
hand. ICT can be engaging in learning, yet it can also be the cause of the student’s distraction. It is well
acknowledged that the growing influence of ICT on our society is also having an impact on teaching and
learning through many approaches. Hawkridge (1990) outlines a number of justifications to use ICT in the
classroom. The societal justification has to do with getting pupils ready for their position within the
community. Moreover, Using ICT in the classroom increases student engagement and retention of material:
Students are more involved in their work when ICT is included into the classroom. This is due to the fact
that technology offers a variety of approaches to teach the same concepts in an entertaining and engaging
manner.
IV. Conclusion
According to David Warlick “We need technology in every classroom and in every student and
teacher’s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the lens through which we experience
much of our world.” ICT can be a transformative tool as well as beneficial in terms in education. Nowadays,
the curriculum is also adopting the advancements of modern world. Schools do have computer laboratory
allowing the students to learn and be knowledgeable. ICT is used in our everyday life as well as it is
growing in the education sector. Some students learn through visual which are the pictures, videos,
presentations and so on. Others are through audio for instances, music, tones, harmony. New teaching
methods can now be implemented in educational institutions thanks to ICT. The "flipped classroom"
approach is one such method, in which students study the material at home and apply it in the classroom
through hands-on activities. Students can use ICT to efficiently learn at home by watching videos, and they
can use it to participate in enjoyable learning activities in school. By monitoring students' grades via ICT,
teachers can also test out various teaching strategies and observe firsthand how they affect the students'
learning. Therefore, ICT in education is useful and beneficial however there are impacts whether positive or
negative on the students. ICT is a tool that can transform our generation and have advancements when it
comes to technology. ICT is a component of a social system that integrates purposeful communication into
educational programs. It can be used to examine the workings, interpretations, and purposes of ICT in the
classroom. Additionally, ICT supplied the research for us when it was time to finish our tasks. ICT is another

1. Facilitates Learning
Learners now have rapid access to information thanks to the development of devices like phones
and tablets, which facilitates their ability to study. Students can finish school tasks and projects more
quickly and effectively with the aid of the internet. One of the intended benefits of technology for
students is this. In this day and age, kids can eliminate the stress of schooling by simply asking a
custom service to "do my homework for me," among other advantages.
2. Contributes to Teaching
The introduction of smart boards has raised the caliber of instruction in classrooms recently. Teachers
can offer an infinite amount of material on these boards to assist pupils better understand the subject.
They also provide teachers with access to Microsoft PowerPoint and other fantastic educational
software.
3. Develops the minds of students
A person's intellect is their most valuable possession. It functions in a way that enhances what you
are able to accomplish with it the more you use it. Put another way, by giving pupils access to an
endless supply of knowledge on the internet, technology fosters intellectual growth in the classroom.
The internet's vast wealth of knowledge is a fantastic learning resource, but it can also stifle
innovation. Sometimes, in order to acquire good scores, students just copy and paste the information.
2. Distraction
Students spend most of their time on social media and watching television instead of studying. The
majority of kids these days are so addicted to social media that they would rather spend their class
time on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook, or Twitter than paying attention to what is being taught.
3. Misinformation
The Internet offers a seemingly endless supply of information, but there's no assurance that what
pupils are learning is what they actually need. Anything may be posted online by anyone, and it can
be very challenging to distinguish between false material that is solely intended to gain attention and
the real thing.
