In many of the procedures found within, the installation steps are the exact opposite of the removal steps
and vice versa, and therefore, the opposite procedure is not written. Instead, a note to reverse the
procedure will be stated. This reduces redundancy and excessive pages in the manual. In cases though,
where the assembly and disassembly or removal and installation procedures differ and additional steps or
safety concerns are paramount, the entire reverse procedure will be written out to include the new
information.
The Table of Contents and Index can be used to make the procedure you need to find an easier process.
Also, there are black tabs extending off the pages highlighting the chapters for those who prefer to thumb
through the manual. Many schematics, photographs, and line art drawings are used to help perform the
necessary repairs, tests, or adjustments that the skid-steer loader needs to keep it in good running
condition.
If you have any additional questions, please contact your authorized Gehl or Mustang dealer or call the
Gehl-Mustang Service Department for assistance.

WARNING
BEFORE beginning this Service procedure,
perform the following SAFETY procedures:
A) Raise lift arm; engage lift arm support
device.
B) Shut off the engine.
C) Roll back ROPS/FOPS until lock engages.

attached.
Removal Procedure - Figs. 35-37
1. Drain oil from hydraulic reservoir. Refer to the
Lubrication chapter of the service manual.
2. Remove control and floor cover per the procedure
in the Mainframe chapter of this addendum.
3. Remove six bolts securing the crossmember to the
chassis and remove the crossmember.
4. Support the gear pump. Remove two capscrews
securing the gear pump to the hydrostatic pump.
Pull the gear pump forward.
5. Disconnect hydraulic hoses connected to the
hydrostatic pump.
NOTE: Mark hoses and fittings for reassembly and cap

1. Position a hoist above the hydrostatic pump. Attach
lifting straps around pump and raise hoist to remove
slack from strap. The hoist should now support the
weight of the pump.
2. Remove capscrews securing pump to flywheel
housing.
3. Three-Cylinder Engines Only: Unbolt two
capscrews underneath the front of the pump
securing the pump support to the hydrostatic pump.
4. Shift the pump forward to disengage the splined
