B. Rationale
The primary aim of this project is to provide a temporary and immediate safe and supportive environment for
children and youth to understand, express, and change brought about by the effects of the clearing operation
that will take place in their community. Through the prepared activities, the project intends to help them
understand the situation they are facing in a manner they can comprehend and to pre-equip them with
resilience and give them hope.
To ensure that the activities are tailored to the developmental needs and capacities of each age group, "Moving
Magic" will be divided into three simultaneous sessions. The first session will cater to kids ages 5-7, the second
session to kids 8-10, and the third session to kids 11-12. Additionally, there will be a separate psychosocial
support activity for the youth ages 13-19. This division allows us to create age-appropriate activities and
discussions that resonate with the experiences and cognitive abilities of each group, fostering a supportive and
engaging environment for all participants.
The project is rooted in the principles of the strengths-based perspective and trauma-informed care. As a group
of aspiring social workers, we believe that every child possesses inherent strengths and capabilities that can aid
in their adaptation to change. Through strengths-based approach, we can empower children and youth to
recognize and harness their innate resilience amidst abrupt change and challenging situations.
During times of crisis and uncertainty, it is important to emphasize children and youth’s psychosocial needs to
guarantee their overall well-being. "Moving Magic: Making Friends with Change" demonstrates our dedication
to assisting the children and youth of Barangay 825 as they navigate this difficult era of transition. Through
empathy, creativity, and collaboration, we hope to build a resilient community in which everyone feels
empowered to embrace change and achieve a greater future.

In the project “Moving Magic: Making Friends with Change”, we, the organizers are dedicated to supporting the
children and youth of Barangay 825 as they face significant changes brought about by the upcoming clearing
operation/demolition. Considering that this is a one-time project with no subsequent sessions due to imminent
relocation of the residents, especially the children, we need to approach monitoring and evaluation in a
different manner. Since there wouldn’t be succeeding sessions to track the progress, we will still keep records of
who takes part in the activity. This will help ensure that we reach as many children and youth as possible and
that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from the psychosocial support provided to them. Every after the
session, we will seek feedback from the children and youth as this will provide valuable insights into how we can
improve our approach and better meet the needs and expectations of the community. Additionally, given the
circumstances of the situation, the project and the organizers will remain flexible and adaptable on how their
approach would be and will always be ready to adjust the plan as needed to ensure that we provide the best
possible support to them. The team is committed to ensuring that the project has a meaningful and positive
impact on the children and youth of Barangay 825 despite that it is a one-time project/activity.
