MY PLACEMENT WORK EXPERIENCE

Medications I prepared and used for the patient in Critical Care Unit
under the supervision of my Assessor
REMIFENTANIL:
To relieve pain during and after surgery/ also for sedation

PROPOFOL
To help relax or sleep before and during surgery, also for sedation

CARVEDILOL
To treat high blood pressure (Hypertension)

DEXMEDETOMIDINE
For sedative (Patients that are ventilated)

DOZAZOSIN
To treat high blood pressure

FUROSEMIDE:
To treat fluid retention (edema) to treat high blood pressure, heart failure and
build-up of fluid in the body

NORADRENALINE
To increase and maintain blood pressure

ERYTHROMYCIN
To treat chest infections such as pneumonia,

METOCLOPRAMIDE
To treat heartburn, vomiting, nausea
My initial rough clinical report of Episode of care on the patient I
worked in CCU
The patient was admitted for a Hartmann procedure
Preparing for theatre
Patient is ventilated
On Endotracheal tube (ETT)
ETT size 7.5 at 21 lips
The patient is on an NG tube for feeding (TPN)
On the Naso-Gastric tube drain (Which needs to be drained every hour)
The patient has an Arterial line for ABG (Arterial blood Gas)
ABCDE Assessment done at the beginning of a shift (GSC) Glasgow Scale Corma)
Medication administration on CVC line (Central venous catheter)
A blood transfusion was given (I unit) under supervision of my Assessor
Medication preparation and put it on the pump, under supervision of my Assessor
Pre-procedure checks taught by my asessor
Temperature checked
On urine catheter
I assisted patient with personal hygiene after taking her consent
The patient has an ileostomy bag and an abdomen drain bag

Patient was on Propofol, Fentanyl, and Paracetamol through IV infusion, sodium


chloride

When doing the Arterial blood Gas this are what I checked for under supervision
of my assessor: PH, PO2, CK, GLU, PCO2, HB,
