Soil Lab Safety Equipment
1. Introduction
Very diverse operations are carried out in the laboratory, in which a wide
variety of products with different dangerous characteristics are handled. It
is in these circumstances that protective equipment must be used.
In the present work we will know and talk about laboratory protection
equipment.
2. what is soil laboratory safety equipment?
It is an Individual Protection Equipment is any device or product that aims
to preserve the health of the worker. For individual use, it is essential in
activities where there are imminent risks and threats, such as in the soil
laboratory.
3. What is Personal Protective Equipment used for?
It serves to provide more security to the worker. This is because the PPE
helps protect against the risks of accidents that commonly arise in the
activity that is carried out, such as crushing a finger with the compaction
hammer or burning with the drying oven. Therefore, the use of safety
equipment is essential for the maintenance of their physical health.
4. Personal protective equipment and its
importance
Here are some of the benefits of wearing protective gear:
➢ Prevent unnecessary injuries in the workplace.
➢ Protect yourself from excessive exposure to chemicals.
➢ Prevent burns with the drying oven, etc.
5. Types of personal safety equipment
A. Masks
For dust, particles and germs, and anti-odor.
III. Skin and body protection
Personal protection items include the following categories to protect
employees from physical hazards:
A. Protection for head
Personal protective equipment includes hard hats and shields and should be
required for tasks that may cause any force or object to fall on the head.
B. Body protection
PPE includes safety vests and suits that can be used for tasks that can cause
bodily injury from extreme temperatures, flames and sparks, toxic
chemicals, insect bites, and radiation.
C. Hand protection
Personal protective equipment includes safety gloves and must be used for
tasks that may cause hand and skin burns, absorption of harmful
substances, cuts, fractures, or amputations.
D. foot protection
Personal protective equipment includes knee pads and safety boots and
should be used for tasks that can cause serious injury to feet and legs from
falling or moving objects, hot substances, electrical hazards, and slippery
surfaces.
IV. Protección auditive
Personal protective equipment includes earmuffs and ear plugs and should
be used for tasks that may cause hearing problems and hearing loss.
A. Safety ear muffs
They consist of padded plastic and foam ear cups that are connected by a
flexible headband. (These are different than the soft earmuffs used to keep
warm in the cold.) These reduce noise by completely covering both ears.
