You might be wondering about our lesson for today


2. So its all about the why and how of school and community
partnership
3. A pleasant afternoon everyone, I hope we have a great day.
4. So I am your partner In learning for today, Niña rica P.
Monterey
5. So for today’s lesson we will be discussing about school and
community partnerships, opportunities, benefits and the
legal bases of parents and community involvement.
6. But before that, lets defined first the meaning of school,
community and partnerships. So those three are interrelated
with each other.
7. So lets begin with the school, the word school is normally
associatedto buildings, students curriculum and instructions,
teachers and administrations.
8. So as we learned in our passed lessons, school is playing a
great important role in our lives and it is an important agent
of socialization. It is an institutions charged by society to
impart specific knowledge and skills necessary for a
functioning society in the community specially imparting
knowledge to our young learners.
9. So lets move on to the community,
10. So what is community? Community is a social
groupwith “common territorial base; those in the group
share interests and have a sense of belonging to the group”
(Robert Stebbins,sociology)
11. So inside the community people are sharing their
interests, behavior, beliefs,traditions and cultures to each
other.
12. So lets move forward to partnerships, a partnership is
an arrangement where parties, known as business partners,
agree to cooperate to advance their mutual interests.
13. So it is a relationship between two or more parties, its
not just parties but two or more individuals or persons for
instance.
14. The school and the community relations are working
together to create an impact to every individual, so that’s
how partnerships do.
15. So next we have, the school and community
partnership is in the statement of mellaville & blank, 1998).
Is interrelated to school and community partnerships
16. And it allows collaboration to ensures that both parties,
the school and the community are working together and
helping each other and also sharing responsibilities in the
school and the community as we learned about in the code
of ethics for professional teachers, the teachers and the
states, and the teacher and the community.
17. So next we have, the benefits of school-community
partnerships. When schools and community organizations
work together to support learning , everyone benefits.
Partnerships can serve strengthen, support each other, and
even transform individual partners resulting in improved
program quality , more efficient use of resources , and better
alignment of goals and curricula that is according to
(hardvard family research project ,2010)
18. So next we have the opportunities for school
community partnership, so there are many opportunities
that can school can give to the community, the community
can give as well as opportunity to school, so this a vise
versa, they are helping each other, just like what I am said
earlier
19. So , what can communities can do for schools?
20. As a former elementary and highschool students I
know that we are all familiar with brigada eskwela. Brigada
eskwela is a big help to schools to be well prepared thru
cleaning and organizing schools and classroom materials for
the school year opens. For example is the PTA officers will
call the help of the parents to help them cleaning the school
to be well prepared and organized in opening a class
21. Curriculum development, the community is one of the
way to improve the curriculum to fulfill the needs of the
society in learning and gaining knowledge. So in other
words, curriculum development is a big help to boost the
needs of the community and as well as community will help
the school to boost or develop its needs.
22. Work experience program is going to be the training
ground of the learners to enhance their skills and knowledge
on how to be well prepared in their ability. For example,
training and immersion.
23. Next is the remediation and enrichment classes, the
residents of the community will help the schools to train or
to have a program, to enhance the skills and the ability of
the students or learners, And this wil help the school to be
develop.
24. Youth development program, is one of the way to help
the school to teach or train the learners to be valued, to be
responsible, and to be well-knowed in other aspects of
attitudes and beliefs of a students that will help them to
boost their confidence and to help them to be responsible in
attending classes in school.
25. Community service, will help the school to be well
prepared in the aspects of the needs of the students. it also
helps schools in terms of health, cleanliness etc.
26. So therefore, over all the community is a big factor and
help to boost or develop the schools and learners.
27. Now lets move on to what can school do to community
in return.
28. The community will used the school as voting place and
venue like we usually do. And also the community can
conduct a medical mission with the help of the rural health
unit. Since the school is a wider place in the community and
have enough space to accommodate a lot of people, when it
comes to disaster like typhoon and floods, that made destroy
the shelter , we can use this as evacuation center not only in
disaster, if you still remember school used as quarantine
facilities or isolation area. Schools can also conduct
livelihood training program using the schools for the parents
and out of school youths using school resources.
29. For example, the school has a technology and a
machine that they can offer to the community to used to
their skills livelihood training program.
And that’s all . community and school has a strong
relationship in order to grow and develop the society.
