when you leave this world, you take with you what you give, ...not what you take. Year's end is neither an end nor a beginning but a going on, with all the wisdom that experience can instill in us ..... Hal Borland Look not mournfully into the past. It comes not back again. Wisely improve the present. It is thine. Go forth to meet the shadowy future, without fear, and with a manly heart. ... Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Editorial
Dear Readers, Assalamo Alaikum. As you read this editorial one year is rapidly coming to an end while a new one is just about to get under way. As in any year, 2012 will have its share of highlights and lowlights, break-ups and make-ups, of winners and losers, of good times and bad times and everything in between. Mans pride can be his self downfall, and the many activities around the world will always be a reminder that nothing, absolutely nothing, ever made by humans is more powerful than nature and the eternal power. Look for the Arab Spring to continue in 2012 in the Middle East and possibly in other parts of the world. There may be no stopping these tsunamis of protest and change now as people around the world are connected via the social media systems. Its an opportunity for fresh starts that can include many things leaving grievances or grudges behind, starting new friendships or building better relationships, losing weight at the gym or, fixing something about oneself thats been troubling or just becoming a better person all around. Perhaps youve wanted to volunteer with a charity but havent. Do it! I have been associated with you for the last few months but one important thing is always bothering me how are we serving you through Bihar Anjuman and its newsletter BaKhabar, we have continuously striving towards achieving a target to provide you a service through our network and its newsletter, All what we wanted to have your opinion about our work, our efforts it would not be wrong to say I have a desire to see your comments, your valuable opinion about our work and how we can improve ourselves, please do share your thoughts about us, please do help us by giving us your suggestion, your blessings..please do so Have you ever just wanted to start over? If youve ever felt stuck, overwhelmed or like you just wanted another chance, consider the NewYear a clean slate. Start fresh, start clean and forget about anything weighing you down previously. Maybe your home is cluttered or messy and you dont know where to begin. Start small and start fresh. Start from now the NewYear make lists and one at a time complete them. You will feel good each time you do. Consider the New Year a new opportunity. Do something youve wanted to do but have been putting off. Cross it off your list and then do something else. Enjoy your New Years celebrations and have a great 2012. Sincerely Jamali On behalf of BaKhabar editorial team

Appeal from BA, D-K Chapter
Get-Together in "DUNES International School, Al Khobar" for a "NOBLE CAUSE", on Thursday, 12thJanuary 2012 Nahmaduhoo wa Nusalli Ala Rasoolihil Kareem Fa Aaoodhubillahi Minash Shaitanirrajeem Bismillahir Rahman Ar Raheem Rasheeda, a house-maid, sends her child, Abdul, to a nearby dhaba as early as five in the morning when the Muazzin calls for Fajr prayer, only to return by late night. Abdul and Muslim are kids alike who have lost all rights as a human beings, and live a life of utter slavery, deprived of basic needs, proper food, remain malnourished, and under these circumstances, education can never be their priority. Indian Muslims are a victim of neglect and deprivation, not just by the state, but by their own affluent brothers who are least bothered to come out of their cosy blankets. Bihar Anjumans Dammam-Khobar Chapter has pledged, in this scenario, to proactively make things happen by reaching out to people whose hearts still beat for the Ummah, and by inspiring others in our effort to help our less fortunate brothers in faith. Allah (swt) calls us to spend in His way, that of the needy, for they have a share in our income and spending on them is an obligation(Fardh) upon us. The latest project, AMBITION 2020, that Bihar Anjumans Dammam-Khobar Chapter has undertaken aims to adopt a child from such sections of our society that live in abject poverty and are willing but incapable to educate their children. It is projected to cover the entire expenses of a total of 200 children from Grade Five (5) till they complete their Senior Secondary Schooling with new batches enrolling every year [numbers would start at 200 and add 200 every year, reaching its final level of 1,200 beneficiaries in 6 years]. To achieve the goal, it is planned to organise a Dine to Donate Benefit Dinner programme so that funds could be raised through a mass gathering of our brothers who are ready to come forward and take steps to reform our society rather than blame the status quo on the government. It is requested to all to lend their time for this noble cause and help this fundraising by calling people to join in our mission to become an empowered community and be the torch-bearers in shaping our destinies and that of the Ummah. We invite all our brothers to co- sponsor the event through advertisement banners and hoardings of their respective businesses and companies. Act we must for we know not the time when we are no more and certainly we shall be responsible of our brothers in front of the All-Knowing and AlMighty Allah. Hope to join you in the cause and together shall we share the dream of a future where our kids assume leadership and take charge of the system.

Burden Of My Own
A Monarch of long ago had twin sons. As they grew to young manhood, the king sought a fair way to designate one of them as crown prince. All who knew the young men thought them equal in intelligence, wit, personal charm, health, and physical strength. Being a keenly observant king, he thought he detected a trait in one which was not shared by the other. Calling them to his council chamber one day, he said, "My sons, the day will come when one of you must succeed me as king. The weight of sovereignty is very heavy. To find out which of you is better able to bear them cheerfully, I am sending you together to a far corner of the kingdom. One of my advisors there will place equal burdens on your shoulders. My crown will one day go to the one who first returns bearing his yoke like a king should. In a spirit of friendly competition, the brothers set out together. Soon they overtook an aged woman struggling under a burden that seemed far too heavy for her frail body. One of the boys suggested that they stop to help her. The other protested: "We have a saddle of our own to worry about. Let us be on our way. The objector hurried on while the other stayed behind to give aid to the aged woman. Along the road, from day to day, he found others who also needed help. A blind man took him miles out of his way, and a lame man slowed him to a cripple's walk. Eventually he did reach his father's advisor, where he secured his own yoke and started home with it safely on his shoulders. When he arrived at the palace, his brother met him at the gate, and greeted him with dismay. He said, "I don't understand. I told our father the weight was too heavy to carry. However did you do it?" The future king replied thoughtfully, "I suppose when I helped others carry their yoke, I found the strength to carry my own." Nisreen Dr. Sk. You'll also hear terms like naturally occurring sugar, added sugar, low-calorie sweeteners, sugar alcohols, reduced-calorie sweeteners, processed grains, enriched grains, complex carbohydrate, sweets, refined grains, and whole grains. No wonder knowing what kind and how much carbohydrate to eat can be confusing! On the nutrition label, the term "total carbohydrate" includes all three types of carbohydrates. This is the number you should pay attention to if you are carbohydrate counting.
Fiber
Fiber comes from plant foods so there is no fiber in animal products such as milk, eggs, meat, poultry, and fish. Fiber is the indigestible part of plant foods, including fruits, vegetables, whole grains, nuts, and legumes. When you consume dietary fiber, most of it passes through the intestines and is not digested. For good health, adults need to try to eat 25 to 30 grams of fiber each day. Most Americans do not consume nearly enough fiber in their diet, so while it is wise to aim for this goal, any increase in fiber in your diet can be beneficial. Most of us only get about what is recommended. Fiber contributes to digestive health, helps to keep you regular and helps to make you feel full and satisfied after eating. Additional health benefits, of a diet high in fiber such as a reduction in cholesterol levels have been suggested by some so may be an additional benefit. Good sources of dietary fiber include: Beans and legumes. Think black beans, kidney beans, pintos, chick peas (garbanzos), white beans, and lentils. Fruits and vegetables, especially those with edible skin (for example, apples, corn and beans) and those with edible seeds (for example, berries). Whole grains such as: Whole wheat pasta Whole grain cereals (Look for those with three grams of dietary fiber or more per serving, including those made from whole wheat, wheat bran, and oats.) Whole grain breads (To be a good source of fiber, one slice of bread should have at least three grams of fiber. Another good indication: look for breads where the first ingredient is a whole grain. For example, whole wheat or oats.) Many grain products now have "double fiber" with extra fiber added. Nuts try different kinds. Peanuts, walnuts and almonds are a good source of fiber and healthy fat, but watch portion sizes, because they also contain a lot of calories in a small amount. In general, an excellent source of fiber contains five grams or more per serving, while a good source of fiber contains 2.5 - 4.9 grams per serving. It is best to get your fiber from food rather than taking a supplement. In addition to the fiber, these foods have a wealth of nutrition, containing many important vitamins and minerals. In fact, they may contain nutrients that haven't even been discovered yet! It is also important that you increase your fiber intake gradually, to prevent stomach irritation, and that you increase your intake of water and other liquids, to prevent constipation. Because fiber is not digested like other carbohydrates, for carbohydrate counting purposes, if a serving of a food contains more than or equal to 5 grams of dietary fiber, you can subtract half the grams of dietary fiber from the total carbohydrate serving of
Starch
Foods high in starch include: Starchy vegetables like peas, corn, lima beans, and potatoes Dried beans, lentils, and peas such as pinto beans, kidney beans, black eyed peas, and split peas Grains like oats, barley, and rice. These include pasta, bread, and crackers but the variety is expanding to include other grains as well. The grain group can be broken down even further into whole grain or refined grain. A grain, let's take wheat for example, contains three parts: bran germ endosperm The bran is the outer hard shell of the grain. It is the part of the grain that provides the most fiber and most of the B vitamins and minerals. The germ is the next layer and is packed with nutrients including essential fatty acids and vitamin E. The endosperm is the soft part in the center of the grain. It contains the starch. Whole grain means that the entire grain kernel is in the food. If you eat a whole grain food, it contains the bran, germ, and endosperm so you get all of the nutrients that whole grains have to offer. If you eat a refined grain food, it contains only the endosperm or the starchy part so you miss out on a lot of vitamins and minerals. Because whole grains contain the entire grain, they are much more nutritious than refined grains.
Sugar
Sugar is another type of carbohydrate. You may also hear sugar referred to as simple or fast-acting carbohydrate. There are two main types of sugar: naturally occurring sugars such as those in milk or fruit added sugars such as those added during processing such as fruit canned in heavy syrup or sugar added to make a cookie On the nutrition facts label, the number of sugar grams includes both added and natural sugars. There are many different names for sugar. Examples of common names are table sugar, brown sugar, molasses, honey, beet sugar, cane sugar, confectioner's sugar, powdered sugar, raw sugar, turbinado, maple syrup, high-fructose corn syrup, agave nectar, and
