I. OBJECTIVES
A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of key concepts of circles.
B. Performance Standards The learner is able to formulate and find solutions to challenging situations involving circles and other related
terms in different disciplines through appropriate and accurate representations.
C. Learning Competencies/ The learner identifies and describes terms related to circles such as circle, chord, semicircle, congruent circle,
Objectives write the LC radius, central angle, major arc, congruent arcs, diameter, arc and minor arc. (M10GE-IIc-1)
Code for each
At the end of the lesson, the learners will be able to:
1. Identify the parts of the circle.
2. Draw a circle and the terms related to it.
3. Develop the value of determination in acquiring the skill.

II. CONTENT CIRCLES and IT’S RELATED TERMS

B. Teacher’s Materials Powerpoint Presentation, laptop, chalk
C. Learner’s Materials Geoboard, compass
D. Strategies Lecture Method, ICT integration, Collaboration, Boardwork, Activity Based using manipulatives
IV. PROCEDURES
A. Preliminaries (5 minutes)  There will be an assigned learner to lead the opening prayer.
1. Classroom Setting  The teacher will greet the learners.
2. Prayer  The teacher will be checking the attendance.
3. Greeting *Remind the students to be punctual or on time in attending the class sessions in relation to Project
4. Checking of attendance W.A.T.C.H. (We Advocate Time-Consciousness and Honesty) pursuant to DepEd Memorandum No.
5. Grouping 160, s. 2008 and DepEd Memorandum No. 410, s. 2009.
 Classroom Management Activities such as arranging of Chairs/Picking up pieces of Garbage, Setting
House Rules And Other
B. Review (5 minutes)  Recall prior knowledge about Graphing Polynomial Function.
 The teacher will call a volunteer student to answer the given problem.
Determine the end behavior of the graph of the polynomial function x3 – 2x2 – 3x.
C. Motivation (5 minutes)  The class will be grouped into two. Each group must have one representative to answer the given
problem.
 Each representative of the group will identify the image being flashed on the TV screen.
 The group who gets more correct answers wins.

areas.
Indicator 7: Established a learner-centered culture by using effective teaching strategies that respond to their
linguistic, cultural, socio-economic and religious backgrounds.
D. Lesson Proper
1. Presentation and  The teacher will present and explain the concept of the topic using the geoboard.
Discussion of the Lesson
(10 minutes) Circle is the set of all points that are the same distance from a fixed point. This fixed
point is called a center of the circle.
Note: A circle is named by its center. The circle here is called Circle O.

Radius- a segment drawn from any point on the circle to the center.
Chord- is a segment that connects any two points of a circle.
Diameter- is a chord that passes through the center of a circle.
Tangent – a line coplanar with the circle and intersects it at one point and only one point.
Arc- is a part of the circumference between two points or a continuous piece of a
circle.
Central angle - is the angle that forms when two radii meet at the center of a circle
Inscribed angle- is an angle whose vertex sits on the circumference of a circle. The
vertex is the common endpoint of the two sides of the angle. The two sides are chords
of the circle.

2. Activity (10 minutes)  The class will be divided into two groups
 Determine whether each statement is TRUE or FALSE.
 Justify your answer by using the geoboard.
HOTS-SOLO: MULTISTRUCTURAL LEVEL

a. Two radii always have the same length. (TRUE)

b. Two chords always have the same length. (FALSE)
c. All chords are diameters. (FALSE)
d. All diameters are chords. (TRUE)
e. A radius is not a chord. (TRUE)
Objective 1: Identify the parts of the circle.
Indicator 3: Developed and applied effective teaching strategies to promote critical and creative thinking, as well as
other higher-order thinking skills.
Indicator 9: Used effective strategies for providing timely, accurate and constructive feedback to encourage learners
to reflect and improve their own learning.
3. Analysis (5 minutes) The teacher will ask the students the following questions based upon the activity.
HOTS-SOLO: RELATIONAL LEVEL

1. How do you find the activity?

2. What made you feel that your answer is correct?
3. How did the Geoboard help you come up with an answer?
Objective 3: Develop the value of determination in acquiring the skill.
Indicator 3: Developed and applied effective teaching strategies to promote critical and creative thinking, as well as
other higher-order thinking skills.
Indicator 9: Used effective strategies for providing timely, accurate and constructive feedback to encourage learners
to reflect and improve their own learning.
4.Abstraction (5 minutes)  The teacher will summarize the concept of Circles
