Challenge
In my role as a student leader for a school project, I faced a big challenge: working with a team that had
different opinions on how to approach our project. We needed to create a presentation for a local
science fair, but each team member had their own ideas about the topic and how to present it. This led
to disagreements, and I noticed that some members were feeling frustrated and unmotivated. My goal
was to find a way to get everyone on the same page and make our project successful.
Selection
To address this challenge, I chose to use teamwork as my main tool. Teamwork means working together
towards a common goal, where everyone shares their ideas and contributes. I decided to focus on
improving communication among team members. I had seen a video about the importance of
collaboration and how listening to each other can lead to better ideas. I felt that teamwork would help
us respect each other’s opinions and find a solution that everyone could support.
Application
To apply teamwork, I called for a team meeting where we could all share our ideas openly. I started the
meeting by encouraging everyone to speak about their thoughts on the project without any judgment. I
listened carefully and wrote down everyone's ideas on a whiteboard. This made everyone feel heard and
valued. As we discussed each idea, I noticed that some of our suggestions could actually combine into a
stronger plan. By the end of the meeting, we had created a project outline that included everyone's
contributions. This approach helped the team come together and feel motivated to work on the project.
Insight
From this experience, I learned how important teamwork is for problem-solving. By allowing everyone to
share their thoughts, we found a way to combine different ideas into one plan. I realized that when
people feel included and respected, they are more likely to be engaged and work hard. This experience
changed how I think about teamwork; it’s not just about dividing tasks but also about building
relationships and trust among team members.
Approach
Looking ahead, I want to do a few things differently next time. First, I would set clear goals for the
meeting so that we stay focused. This will help us make the best use of our time together. Second, I
would suggest using activities like brainstorming games to get everyone more involved and excited.
Finally, I would plan a follow-up meeting to check on our progress and make sure everyone feels good
about their roles. This way, we can keep the positive energy going and make our project even better.
