CONTENTS:
1. Brief Introduction to Micro-Project

Welcome to the micro-project defect report for our Library Management System. This report is
generated to address and resolve various issues and defects that have been identified during the
testing phase of the project. The library management system is a critical component of our
organization, and ensuring its optimal performance and reliability is essential. This report focuses on
defects that impact the system's functionality and user experience, and it aims to provide a clear path
toward resolving these issues for the benefit of our users and the success of our project.

2.Aim of the Micro-Project

I. The primary aim is to identify and catalog all defects or issues within the library
management system.
II. The report helps prioritize defects based on their severity and impact on the
system's functionality and user experience.
III. The ultimate aim is to guide the process of resolving these defects.

3. Intended Course Outcomes of the Micro-Project

i. Applying various software testing methods.

ii. Identifying bugs to create defect report of given application.

iii. Test software for performance measures using automated testing tools.

4.Literature Review
The management and maintenance of software systems, including library management systems,
play a pivotal role in ensuring their continuous functionality and user satisfaction. This process
encompasses the identification, reporting, and resolution of defects within the software. A defect
report is a critical instrument in this endeavor, serving as the cornerstone for acknowledging and
rectifying issues that could impede the system's performance. Defect management, as a
component of software engineering, has garnered substantial attention in the literature.
Researchers have emphasized the significance of systematic defect reporting in software
development (Kan, 2002). This practice is not limited to large-scale software applications; it is
equally vital in more specialized systems like library management software. The ability to efficiently
identify and report defects is integral to maintaining the quality and integrity of these systems.
Library management systems, designed to streamline the management of library resources and
enhance user experiences, must operate with high levels of reliability. To achieve this, defect
reporting is an indispensable component of their maintenance. It enables libraries and institutions
to address issues promptly and ensure that library management systems perform optimally. In the
realm of defect management, there are a plethora of tools and techniques available. Many
organizations employ defect tracking systems and methodologies designed to streamline the
reporting and resolution of issues. These tools facilitate communication between various
stakeholders and ensure that defects are cataloged, assessed for severity, and resolved efficiently
(Grill et al., 2008). Challenges specific to library management systems are worth acknowledging in
the context of defect reporting. Looking ahead, the literature anticipates the integration of
emerging technologies, such as artificial intelligence and automation, into defect reporting. These
innovations hold the potential to revolutionize the defect management landscape, making the
process even more efficient and responsive to evolving user needs. In conclusion, the literature
underscores the critical role that defect reporting plays in the maintenance and enhancement of
library management systems. It showcases the need for systematic and efficient defect reporting
practices, tailored to the unique challenges of these systems, and highlights the potential for
ongoing improvement through user feedback and emerging technologies.

improvements.
● Defect reports streamline issue tracking and resolution, reducing chaos and confusion.
● Regular defect reporting helps detect problems early, preventing them from escalating.
● A defect report system facilitates ongoing system enhancements and refinements.
● Involving users in defect reporting encourages collaboration and user-driven improvements
● A repository of defect reports and resolutions creates a valuable knowledge base for future
reference.
● Early defect identification and resolution can lead to cost savings by preventing more
extensive issues in the future.

DISADVANTAGES
● Frequent defects may frustrate users, impacting their trust in the system.
● A high volume of defect reports can overwhelm the system's maintenance team.
● Addressing defects and maintaining the system can result in additional costs.
● Implementing defect resolutions may require system downtime, affecting user access.
● Excessive reliance on user-reported defects may miss underlying systemic issues.
