width of 40”.
Read through instructions fully Step 1
before beginning your project. Trim the fabric tabs at either end of the zip to ½” (if they exceed that.)

Step 2
1 Then fold the tabs at a 45 degree angle, tucking the excess behind the zip.
Clip in place and secure with a stitch approx 1/8” from the edge. Repeat for
both ends of the zip. Attach the zipper foot to your machine.

Step 3
With your front exterior panel facing up, centre and line up the zip along the
top edge. The right side of the zip teeth should be facing down with the pull
to the left. Clip or pin in place (I personally find clips more suitable for this
part) and baste stitch the two together, approx. 1/8” from the top edge.

Lay the lining piece on top, aligning at the top edge, right sides together,
with the zip in the middle of the layers.

Step 5
Flip the fabric layers, so that they are wrong sides together, press and top
stitch along the zip seam approx 1/8” -¼” from the top.

Step 6
Lay your back exterior piece right side up and align the other side of the zip
to the top edge (your side edges should align as well.) Right side of the zip
teeth facing down, this time the zip pull will be on the right side. Clip or pin
3 in place and baste stitch the two together, approx 1/8” from the top edge.

Step 7
Repeat steps 4 and 5 for the other side of the pouch.

Step 8
Open your zip a little beyond half way and place the two exterior pieces
right sides together and the two lining pieces right sides together. Make
sure to line up the top of the exterior pieces and fold so that the zip teeth
are inside the lining. Pin or clip all the way around.

Step 9
Using a ¼” seam allowance, sew all the way around the edge. You will need
4 to leave a gap in the bottom of the lining part approx. 4-5” in width. Back
stitch at start and finish.

Step 10
Using the gap in the lining, reach in and turn the pouch the right way out
and carefully poke out the corners.

Step 11
Sew up the gap in the lining by pressing the raw edges into the gap by
approx ¼” Press and sew up the gap by either hand sewing or a small
machine stitch as close to the edge as you can.

5 Step 12
Poke the lining back inside and admire your finished pouch.
