1.DESCRIBETYPE OF CELL JUNCTIONS FOUND IN

EPITHELIAL TISSUE

Cell adhesion is made possible by specialized structures called cell junctions. they play a crucial
role in immune response and wound healing, as well as the growth and maintenance of tissues
and organs;
TIGHT JUNCTION: This is made up of protein strands or rows that are part of the plasma
membrane. They are situated around the outside of each cell, near the apical surface. They serve
as spot welds that close the intercellular space, which must be crossed by the substance being
moved through the cell. For instance, they help to line the small intestines and stop corrosive
enzymes from passing between cells and harming other internal organs. They also stop urine
from leaking through the bladder.

TIGHT JUNCTION

DESMOSOMES: Also referred to as macula adherens, they are made up of several proteins. A
protein plague, a thickened structure, is present on the interior surface of the plasma membrane
of neighboring cells. From the plague, many protein filaments (desmogleins) stretch through the
plasma membrane of the two adjacent cells. They are joined by an anchor. In order to reinforce
and strengthen the pattern establishing a desmosome between two adjacent cells, intermediate
filaments of the cytoskeleton that stretch from each protein plaque across the cell are also
anchored to each protein plaque.

midpoint filament They serve to maintain the structural integrity of cardiac muscle cells and
prevent separation by providing structural integrity to cells exposed to stress (skin, heart) in the
heart. There dysfunction may result in pathological conditions like pemphigus

DESMOSOMES

JUNCTION OF GAPS
It is made up of six essential plasma proteins known as connexons, which together form a small
fluid-filled tunnel or pore. They offer a direct route for chemicals to go between adjacent cells,
Ions, glucose, amino acids, and other minor solutes can cross straight from one cell's cytoplasm
to that of its neighbor. via means of the pores. the distribution of electrical activity in heart
muscles is made possible by the passage of ions. Heart conditions can result from malfunction.
