PERSPECTIVES 360
2.0: 2024-25

NEWSLETTER: DAY 1
OUR MENTORS
Model United Nations
conferences help students
realise the power they have
over humanity’s future, their
responsibilities towards
communities and the problems
that plague our world. Amity
MUN helps students to excel in
the arts of leadership and
Dr. Amita Chauhan diplomacy.
CHAIRPERSON
Amity Group of Schools

I wish each and every student the

very best for the forthcoming MUN.
It is a wonderful platform where
you get to learn what all the
international policies are about. I
wish you all the very best. Learn
and improve upon your
communication skills. I urge you all
to participate to the best of your
capabilities
Dr. Anshu Arora
PRINCIPAL
OUR MENTORS
MUN is a platform for students to hone
their public speaking skills, learn to
appreciate the rich culture, diversity and
economic interdependence among
countries. Dialogue and discussions help
them comprehend world issues with
logical reasoning anchored in reality.
Remember, the key to being the good
delegate is thorough research of the
issue you are debating on, in order to
put forth your views with confidence and
Mrs. Madhu Gulia conviction.
SENIOR HEADMISTRESS

MUN is a platform given to students

to evolve as good orators and
debators. It helps them to increase
their knowledge of research and
enhance their skills of expression.
It's a beautiful experience for
students to create memories for life.
As they say that world is a small
family, MUN makes students work in
unison towards finding solutions to
world problems. I wish the students Mrs. Sangeeta Sethi
the best of luck and may the best COORDINATOR
speaker win.
OUR MENTORS
MUN is an attempt to allow the
young learners to create an
amalgamation of agendas and
perfect the problem solving
aptitude. Its a volatile,
unpredictable, competitive world
out there, so every step taken
towards learning is an effort
towards growth. MUN boosts
appreciation and social skills; the
best learning happens amongst
Mrs. Suchitra Duggal the peers, nurturing apathy and
MUN COORDINATOR empathy simultaneously. I wish a
bon voyage to all the young
MUNers who are ready to dive
deep into the ocean of learning!
KNOW THE SECRETARIAT
With you as the Secretary General of
Perspectives 360 2.0, what can we
expect from this year's proceedings?

Catering to the needs of the delegates and

ensuring everyone is recognised, enjoying
the committee, and learning from it- those
will be my top priorities. New and exciting
committees and agendas that we have
introduced, invigorating speeches and
more will be on the menu for Perspective
MUN 2.0. I hope to create an MUN that shall
leave a lasting impression on all. Learning
from my MUN journey which started in 8th,

TEJ NANDA and doing international MUNs including

Harvard, being Director in AIMUN, and after
SECRETARY GENERAL a total of 15 best delegate awards, my only
advice to MUNers is “IT’S NOT THE
COUNTRY, IT’S THE DELEGATE, SO JUST GIVE
YOUR 100%”
What role do you think MUNs play in
the life of an individual? How would
you describe your own
experience with MUNs?

I believe MUNs play a vital role in shaping one's

personality. In today's world where we're all
interconnected through the internet, it is very
important for a person to be socially developed
and be able to speak in front of a crowd. MUNs
help with that, and allow students to be well
versed in global dilemmas and issues and be
one with the world. My MUN journey has been
very fulfilling, I must say. I started in 8th grade
with an online MUN, and being the Deputy

PIA GUJRAL
Secretary General today makes me feel like I've
come a full circle. I hope that the transforming
role that MUNs have played in my life, will do
the same in the lives of our delegates as well.
DEPUTY SECRETARY GENERAL
KNOW THE SECRETARIAT
What can we expect to see in
this year's MUN videos?

I hope that the videos for this year will be an

amazing display of the committees that will
truly showcase the essence of learning
diplomacy and deliberation amongst students.
I will try my level best to create videos that will
be enjoyed by all, and hope you look forward to
ISHAAN JAIN seeing them.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
INTERNATIONAL PRESS
MUN conferences have made me better inside-
out. The first time when I was researching on
the agenda, it was kind of boring. But that was
not even the real experience of an MUN, it was
the arguments, the speeches I had to make on
spot to win, the negotiations and of course the
making of solutions. I still remember how my
first MUN kindled confidence inside me which is
still shining and is helpful, as this year I get to
be the Head of International Press. This year’s
IP team is dedicated to capturing the essence
of Perspectives 360 2.0: 2024 through helpful
interviews to the EB, amazing reports, and
intricate and mind-blowing caricatures. Lastly,

MOKSHITA GROVER
I want to say to the delegates, STRIVE FOR THE
BEST, KNOWING THAT REGARDLESS OF THE
OUTCOME, THE TRUE VICTORY LIES IN THE
UNDER SECRETARY GENERAL
KNOWLEDGE GAINED ALONG THE WAY. HEAD OF INTERNATIONAL PRESS

The newsletter and IP as a whole is an entirely

different thing from the rest of the MUN, but trust
me, it is just as fun. I want to collaborate with my
fellow IP members and create an environment
which is both enjoyable and educational for all
those involved, and the culmination of the
committees that will be the icing on the cake for
Perspective 360 2.0.

INTRODUCING THE COMMITTEES
AND
EXECUTIVE BOARD

Human Rights Council

World Health Organisation

UNGA
UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY
The UN General Assembly (UNGA) is the main policy-making organ of the Organization.
Comprising all Member States, it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussion of
the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the United Nations. It
consists of meritorious EB led by Samarth Sawhney: Chair,
Rajit Ranjan Pandey: Vice-Chair, Harshill Sachdeva & Manan Singh: Rapporteur

As the chair of UNGA, what according

to you should come first - peace or
security?
I firmly stand by the belief that security is of a
greater importance than peace. The reason I say
so is the inextricable link between peace and
security, for the absence of security results in an
epiphenomenal absence of peace. The
establishment of protective measures and
safeguarding the nation from the realms of border
security to national integrity is thus absolutely
SAMARTH SAWHNEY imperative.
CHAIR,UNGA

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE

PERFECT DELEGATE?
I believe that the perfect delegate consists of
three virtues: nobleness, perspicacity and
politeness. This delegate means everything he
says and doesn't mince his words. He does not shy
away from a rivalry- even creating them by hostile
statements- but also knows to respect his peers.
At the end, he is the first one to come and the last
one to leave.
RAJIT RANJAN PANDEY
VICE-CHAIR,UNGA

TEXT BY- FATIMAH AHMED

What advice would you give
to new delegates?
Be prepared (research, rehearse, organize),
actively participate (ask questions, collaborate,
adapt), and project confidence with well-
supported arguments. Always remember, it's
about learning and having fun!

HARSHILL SACHDEVA
RAPPORTEUR,UNGA

Expectations from the

committee?
High expectations that the committee will be
exciting and energetic. The participation of the
delegates is a portrayal of their excitement. This
time the committee consists of many first-timers,
so we want to make it a memorable experience for
them. MANAN SINGH

UNHRC
UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
The Human Rights Council is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system made up
of 47 States responsible for the promotion and protection of all human rights around the globe. It
has the ability to discuss all thematic human rights issues and situations that require its attention
throughout the year. It consists of admirable EB led by Jiya Arora: Chair, Tashvi Rewri: Vice-Chair &
Manya Shridharr: Rapporteur

Expectations the chair of UNHRC, how do you

think recognition of minority communities can
be achieved worldwide so that their basic human
rights are not violated?

Recognition of minority communities worldwide

can be achieved by giving them the spotlight they
deserve, like that one awkward relative at family
gatherings. We need to amplify their voices,
protect their rights, and make sure they're not just
the side dish, but the main course on the human
JIYA ARORA rights menu.
CHAIR,UNHRC

What are your expectations

from the committee?

If a delegate can crack a joke about nuclear

proliferation while still proposing a viable
solution, they've not only won our respect but
probably a round of applause from the entire
committee. If delegates can make me laugh while
solving global crises, they've truly mastered the
art of MUN. After all, tackling world problems
should come with a side of laughter to keep spirits
high in the committee room.

UNHRC
UNITED NATIONS HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL
What are your thoughts
about the agenda?

The agenda adopted by the executive board of

UNHRC focuses on the vulnerable communities
and active war zones while giving special
emphasis to human rights that are being violated.
In my opinion, this balanced approach shows the
committee's commitment towards encompassing
various facets of human rights.

UNSC
UNITED NATIONS SECURITY COUNCIL
The Security Council has primary responsibility for the maintenance of international peace
and security. This year it is led by Nityam Varma : Chair, Abeer Sahu: Vice Chair.

What advice would you share to

the MUNers on how to give their
best ?
For the delegates, in your speech, just don't
include facts taken from Google. Put your own
analysis. Make your own solutions as to how you
feel the agenda should be dealt with. Who ever
CHAIR has most diplomatic stance and not sending army
UNSC in wars, gets more marks, because UNSC’s
objective is to have peace, not wars.
NITYAM VARMA
CHAIR,UNSC

How do you feel about your

committee’s agenda?

The agenda is a hot pick on the ongoing conflicts

over the world, Israel-Palestine is a subject which
is never too old to deliberate upon, the delegates VICE-

and the energy in the committee are great looking UNSC

UNHCR
UNITED NATIONS HIGH COMMISSION FOR REFUGEES
The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees is mandated to aid and protect refugees,
forcibly displaced communities, and stateless people, and to assist in their voluntary repatriation, local
integration or resettlement to a third country. This year it consists of dynamic EB led by Rajbir Singh: Chair,
Chavvi Gupta: Vice Chair & Maulik Bhargava: Rapporteur.

As the Chair of UNHCR, How can

we effectively reduce the global
refugee population?
Evacuate civilians, focus more on monetary
support and providing livelihood rather than just
food and shelter. NGO's and governments should
work hand in hand rather than working
independently.

RAJBIR SINGH
CHAIR,UNHCR

How do you deal with conflicts

or controversies in your
committee?
Addressing conflicts within the committee
demands a balanced, proactive approach.
Encourage open communication, listen to all
perspectives, and act swiftly and impartially.
Prioritize diplomacy, seek collaborative solutions
through constructive dialogue, and mediate when
necessary. Ensure transparency in decision-
making and foster a culture of teamwork and

UNW
UNITED NATIONS WOMEN
UN Women is the UN organization delivering programmes, policies and standards that uphold
women’s human rights and ensure that every woman and girl lives up to her full potential. This
year it consists of strong and sharp-witted EB led by Kirtida Aggrwal: Chair, Mudra: Vice Chair and
Ishita Jain: Rapporteur.

What are your expectations from

the delegates in your committee ?

As the Chairperson of the UNW committee, I expect

delegates to come prepared with thorough
research on the agenda. They should actively

UNW participate in discussions, offer constructive

solutions, collaborate with fellow delegates, and
adhere to the rules of procedure to ensure

KIRTIDA AGGRAWAL productive and diplomatic deliberations.

CHAIR,UNW

Do you think women are the future

Vice UNW
of development of any nation ? Chair
There is no doubt in saying that women are the
essence of a country's development. Putting
reckless hours of work, posing one of the greatest
social challenges and vulnerable to the most
difficult situations and still striving towards
success makes the role of women so pivotal.

G-20
GROUP OF 20
The G20 or Group of 20 is an intergovernmental forum comprising 19 sovereign countries, the
European Union, and the African Union. It works to address major issues related to the global
economy, such as international financial stability, climate change mitigation and sustainable
development. This year it consists of exemplary EB led by Avighna Saraswat: Chair, Shaurya: Vice
Chair and Hansika: Rapporteur.

If you could meet any world leader,

past or present who would it be and
what would you ask him/her?

If I were to meet any world leader, I would most

certainly want to meet Winston Churchill.
UK and France during the start of WW2 had the
perfect chance of destroying any German plans
during the Phoney War, but instead they planned
the war which would cost them heavily, and I
would like to ask why.

AVIGHNA SARASWAT
CHAIR,G-20

What are your thoughts on

the agenda?
Discussing nuclear proliferation and disarmament
within the G20 agenda is crucial, with historical
reflection on the Cuban missile crisis offering
valuable insights. It humanizes discussions,
emphasizing the urgency of preventing similar
crises and promoting global peace and security.
Through a learning perspective, delegates can
grasp the complexities of global politics, the role
of diplomacy, and the need for international
cooperation, contributing to a safer world for SHAURYA
future generations. VICE-CHAIR,G-20

just in general. The experience was a pleasant one.
It taught me a lot about the proceedings and

AIPPM
ALL INDIA POLITICAL PARTIES MEET
The All India Political Parties Meet was formed as a body supplementary to the Parliament, without any
legislative power; a specific purpose body to serve as a union for political debates which are seldom
allowed in the Parliament. This year it consists of brillant EB led by Kartik Virmani : Moderator, Vani Yadav:
Deputy Moderator & Nirvan Thakur: Scribe

AIPPM If you were to become a political party

leader one day, what would be your first
step toward the development of the
nation?
As a potential political leader, my first step
towards national development would be to
conduct comprehensive research and analysis to
identify key areas of concern. I would then initiate
inclusive discussions with experts, stakeholders,
and citizens to formulate evidence-based policies
that prioritize economic growth, social welfare,
and environmental sustainability for the holistic

you ask them?

If I were to meet a political leader, it would be Dr.

diplomat requires guidance and support, which I
believe would be best provided by him. I would
ask him how he effortlessly answers international
media and maintains our country’s reputation.

THE UNION OF EUROPEAN FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION
UEFA, the governing body of European Football, is now a warm haven for all football fanatics.
Led by atheletes Aditya Munshi: Chair, Kapis: Vice Chair, Rajvardhan Singh &
Arvind Mangla: Rapporteur.

What is football to you?

Football has always been the one and only thing
doing excess of which has never got me bored. I
have been playing football since the previous 11
years and there hasn't been a single day when I
didn't think about the sport. Be it with my
batchmates, juniors, seniors, my school team or
even a stranger, I would never hesitate to play a
match.

RONALDO OR MESSI?

ADITYA MUNSHI MESSI, ANYDAY, OVER ANY OTHER PLAYER. He is the man
who has got me to love the game so much. Messi defines

CHAIR,UEFA the beauty of the sport so impeccably that no one even

comes close to him.

What got you into taking part in MUNs?

In MUNs there are a lot of heated debates, and

even though they may not be replicating the real
world diplomatic scenarios, but still there is a lot
to gain from it. For me it is confidence- as a
student I lacked confidence and didn't participate
in class even if I knew about something but MUNs
gave me a way to express my desires to comment
on the current world scenarios and helped me gain
confidence.

RONALDO OR MESSI?
Ronaldo, even if he may not have the World Cup. It wasn't
his trophy collection that got me into the sport. It was his
‘Never Give Up’ attitude and the immense dedication that
KAPIS
he has for the sport that made me admire him so much. VICE-CHAIR,UEFA
