Question 2 (3 + 3 + 4)

(a) 76 persons can complete the job in 42 days. In how many days will 56 persons
do the same job?

(b) Find the average of first 8 even natural numbers.

(c) John weighs (4ab -7bc - 5cd) kg. Roy weighs (11cd + ab) kg. How much
heavier is John than Roy?

Question 3 (3 + 3 + 4)

(a) The vertical angle of a triangle is 400 and the base angles are in the ratio of 3 : 4.
Find the measure of each base angle.

(b) Divide: 8 x 4  32 x 2  14 x   4 x

(c) Boxes of tea are packed into cartons. A box of tea measures 8 cm × 6 cm × 12
cm. A carton measures 56 cm × 30 cm × 36 cm. The carton is completely filled
with boxes. Find the number of boxes that will completely fill one carton.

(c) A greengrocer is selling apples at 4 for $6.80 and oranges at 11 for

(a) A man left home at 12 noon to go for a cycle ride. The travel graph
represents part of the man’s journey.

At 12 : 45 pm. the man stopped for a rest.

(i) For how many minutes did he rest?

(ii) Find his distance from home at 1.30 pm.

(iii) The man stopped for another rest at 2 pm.

How long did he rest?

(iv) What was the speed of the man between 12:00 and 12:45 pm?

(b) Find the surface area and volume of a cube of side 12cm.
