POB 2024 - 2025 SBA TOPICS

The following are the topics for this year’s POB SBA. Each student will choose one topic,
which you will research and present in the form of a report electronically.

TOPICS FOR THE RESEARCH PROJECT


1. An investigation to determine “the benefits that are offered by the government to small

businesses within the community of Yallahs Bay and the ease of access to these benefits”.

2. An investigation into “the reasons why Yallahs High School students prefer to purchase

products from outside vendors as opposed to the school’s cafeteria”.

3. An investigation into “the impact of increasing petrol prices on taxi operators in the

community of Yallahs Bay”.

4. A study to ascertain “the affordability for Yallahs High School to rear its own chicken via

the agriculture department rather than purchase from outside sources”.

5. An investigation into “how COVID-19 has affected the demand and supply of Business

Enterprise products in the manufacturing industry over a six-month period”.

6. An investigation into “the benefits of cottage industries and the role of the government in

its development in your community”. (Community eg. James Hill)

7. An investigation to determine the effects that the Russia and Ukraine war has on the

production process of goods and services within business industries in your country.

8. A study to determine “the factors that contribute to unemployment in the community of

Yallahs”.

9. An investigation into “the Role that the Government has to play within the community of

Yallahs”.

10. A study to determine “the causes of increase prices at the school’s cafeteria”.

11. A study on the impact of technology on the accounting system at Yallahs High School.
12. A study to determine the impact of the economic system that Jamaica practices has on

small businesses in Yallahs.

You will be required to:

a) Identify the research topic, issue, or problem to be investigated.

b) State the objectives of your research project.

c) Discuss the background of your selected research topic or problem.

d) Describe the methodology and instruments you used to collect the data.

e) Present and analyze your data.

f) State the conclusion(s) drawn from your research findings.

g) Make recommendations based on your findings.

h) In your bibliography site all the literature you used to validate your argument or point of

view in your research project.

i) Include appendices which may comprise of questionnaires, source documents, diagrams,

charts, interview questions and statistical data and should appear in the order in which it

appears in your research report.
