DETAILS OF WORK

ITEM PROCEDURES

A PRESSURE TANSMITTER
This procedure has been written to cover the maintenance requirement of
PRESSURE TRANSMITTERS. The procedure covers the inspection, calibration
and function testing.
1 WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS
1.1 Obtain permit to work
1.2 Wear an Anti static wrist strap when working on electronic systems or
1.3 components.
1.4 Only one loop to be taken out of action at a time.
If required following action to be taken
a)put controller in manual mode,
b)take Valve in bypass,
1.5 c)put override on SGS control panel and RTU SCADA MONITOR
NOTE:
This procedure shall be conducted under the guidance of a competent
Instrument Supervisor /Engineer who shall be responsible for ensuring that the
procedure is conducted safely and that no unplanned production deferment is
caused.

2 INSPECTION & FUNCTION CHECK (6 MONTHLY)

2.1 Ensure that all components, fittings, glands, cabling and instrument pipe work
are secure, clean and undamaged.
2.2 Ensure that no fault or alarm signals are standing for any loop items on the
relevant monitoring system.
2.3 Check control valve gland for leakage.
2.4 Ensure that all loop items are tagged and identified correctly.
2.5 Remove the Transmitter back cover and check any sign of loose connection,
terminal wire damaged. Ensure that all terminal lugs are secure and
2.6 undamaged.
Replace the back cover with light grease applied on the thread and ensure that
2.7 cover seal ring is undamaged.
If Operation condition allows, blow down the impulse lines and note down the
2.8 results. If results show error, proceed to the calibration process referred to
calibration procedure.
Reinstate the device to normal online stage and check and compare with the
reading before blow down. If error reading shows, proceed to the calibration
process referred to calibration procedure.

3 CALIBIRTION –Procedure (YEARLY)

3.1 Note down the transmitter calibrated range.
3.2 Close the isolation valve.
3.3 Open the vent valve to depressurize the transmitter.
3.4 Note zero reading.
3.5 Hook-up Pressure hand pump.
3.6 Ensure that vent plug is closed on the side where signal is being applied.
3.7 Give the full range signal.
3.8 Note down span reading.
3.9 Perform the full range calibration by applying 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, 100%, 75%,
50%, 25% and 0% of the transmitter range.
3.10 Make necessary Zero and Span adjustments to get exact outputs.
3.11 Note upscale and downscale readings and confirm with CRO.
3.12 Check linearity and accuracy.
3.13 If accuracy exceeds beyond 2%, inform Supervisor for further action.
3.14 Tabulate the readings in the table below.
3.15 Blow impulse lines while putting back instrument on line.
3.16 Open the isolation valve.

UPON COMPLETION OF JOB

 Ensure site is clean, return all tools/materials and unused spares.
 Inform Sr. CRO to allow reinstatement of the equipment and close out the WORK
PERMIT.
 On completion of the calibration procedure, ensure that the
instrument is put back in line.
 Ensure that the plant is back to its normal operating condition
 If remedial action is required as a result of the calibration procedure, a
corrective work order must be raised as appropriate
 Ensure all necessary inspection reports are completed and signed.
