ANALOG AND DIGITAL DATA TRANSMISSION THROUGH AN
OPTICAL LINK
AIM
To design a link using Opti system software through fibre optic link having a
receiver with internal gain using the given parameter.

SOFTWARE
Optisystem 18

GENERAL PARAMETERS
1. Pseudo Random bit sequence generator
2. NRZ Pulse generator
3. CW laser frequency = 193.1 THz,
i. Power = 10dBm
4. Mz modulator extinction ratio = 30Db,
i. Symmetry factor = -1
5. Optical fibre length = 25km (15km;25km:5km)
i. Fibre dispersion = 25 Ps/ns/km
6. Avalanche Photo diode (APD)
7. Receiver ionization ratio = 0.5
8. Low Pass Butterworth fiber
9. Cut-off frequency = 0.75*bit ra
PROCEDURE
 The digital links are connected as shown in the layout diagram.
 Left click on search bar & click on the final components option then search
for each element required for this link & drag & drop all such element.
 Properties of each element can be changed by double clicking the components
use the given specification to construct the link.
 To run simulation, click ctrl+F note that APD is used in receiver to have
internal gain.
 Click on input & output oscilloscope to see the result and compare power for
difference length.

INFERENCE:
As distance of transmission fibre increases, attenuation increases and signal
degrades and signal received is least efficiently constructed back.

RESULT:
Hence, digital and analog link is designed and simulated using Opyisystem.
