digital signals. In contrast to analog electronics, where information is represented by a

continuously varying voltage, digital signals are represented by two discreet voltages or
logic levels. This distinction allows for greater signal speed and storage capabilities
and has revolutionized the world electronics. Digital electronics is the foundation of all
modern electronic devices such as cellular phones, MP3 players, laptop computers,

digital cameras, high definition televisions, etc. This course provides the electrical
engineering student with the analytical and computer skills required for the analysis,
computer simulation, design, and computer-aided physical layout of digital integrated
circuits. The course is preparatory for study in the field of Very Large Scale Integrated
(VLSI) digital circuits and engineering practice.
This is an introductory course on digital design. So you have to grasp the fundamentals,
and at the same time you need to understand how things work in the real world. Though

Class attendance is mandatory (at least 80% of classes) to qualify for grading as per
university policy. But I will grade you on the basis of your attentiveness during
class-time. Your in-time presence will also be considered as positive class
participation as class attendance will be taken in the beginning of the class.
b. Examination:
There will be 4 quizzes in class (Approx. 20 min long each). Best 3 will be taken
into account.
There is NO provision for make-up of missed classes or quizzes.
Additional Expect quiz on completion of each topic.

c. Assignment and Homework:
Policies
Assignments and Homework will be given throughout the semester. Group study
and brain-storming on homework & assignments is highly encouraged, but do not
just copy from others’. Come to my office if you need help and we will work
together on problems.
