PHRASAL VERBS

Fall out: to argue with someone and stop being friendly with them (enfadarse,
pelearse)

Fill in: to put information in spaces provided (rellenar)

Fit in: to feel comfortable with and accepted by a group of people (encajar)

Get along with: have a good relationship. (llevarse bien con)

Get back: to return to a place after you have been somewhere else (volver).

Get by: to manage to live or succeed (salir adelante, arreglárselas)

Get over: to lose sth on mind (olvidar)

Give up: to stop doing a regular activity or job (dejar algo, rendirse)

Go ahead: to continue, to start doing sth. ( seguir adelante, continuar)

Go by: to move past in space or time (pasar, transcurrir)

Go off: It starts to ring loudly or make loud noise (sonar)

Go out with: to spend time with somebody (salir con)

Go over: to examine or look at something in a careful or detailed way (repasar)

Hand down: to give sth to a younger family member (heredar)

Hand in: to give sth to someone in a position of authority (entrega)

Hand over: to give sth or sb to sb in authority (dar, transferir)

Hang out: to spend a lot of time in a place or with someone (echar el rato, pasar).

Hang up: to end a phone conversation (colgar)

Hear from: to receive a letter, telephone call, etc sb (saber de, tener noticias)

Hear out: to listen to. (escuchar)

Help out: to do sth so another person's job or task is easier (ayuda, echar una
mano)
knock over: to hit someone with a vehicle and injure or kill trem
(tirar atropellar).

Lead on: to persuade someone to believe sth that is untreve (da esperaras)
long for: to want sth a lot (desear)

Look down on: to think that you are better than someone (menospreciar, mirar
por encina).

Look forward to: to feel pleased and excited about sth that is going to happen
(esperar con ilusion)

Look up: to try to find a piece of information (buscar)

Make of:

Make up: to become friends again after an argument (hacer paces)

Miss out on: to fall to take advantage of, experience etc (dejar pasar -perder)

Move on: to begin to train about or do in a new way (pasar página, seguir
adelante)

Open up: share feelings (hablar abiertamente, sincerarte)

Pick on: to criticize, punisher be unkind with sb ( meterse con alguien)

Pick up: to learn a new skill or language / to use your hands to lift (recoger,
aprender)

Point out: to emphasize sth by saying it (señalar)

Pour down: sudden and unexpected heavy fall ( caer con fuerte)

Pull off: to succeed in doing sth (lograr)

Put down: to put on object that you're holding into the flour (soltar)

Put off: decide or arrange to delay an event (aplazar)

Put up with: accept or continue to accept a situation unpleasant (aguantar)

Run out of: to lose energy or interess to continue doing sth (quedarse sin)
