BUILDING ARCHITECTURE
The Ho Chi Minh City Museum includes a 2-storey main building with an area of
1,700m2 and a horizontal building behind. The museum is built in a renaissance
architectural style with the lobby as the highlight in the middle. The design of the
museum is very sophisticated and skillful.
* General appearance of the building:
The large and small pillars on the facade resemble the ancient architecture of the
famous Louvre Paris museum with two rows of pillars blocking both sides of the entrance
gate and were modified in 1943 by building a porch. The carved scenes are quite
numerous, matching the building's polyphonic architectural motifs. Geometric patterns
(discs) representing animals and herbs highlight the facade's brick pillars. On the roof
there are Western-style carved details along the floors. The imaginary drawings do not
detract from the overall majesty, reminding us of the Southern swamp scene.
* Inside the museum:
There are 4 main areas: the main gate, the main staircase, the 1st floor terrace and the
hallway. As soon as you step into the museum, the impression of an ancient European
space over 100 years of construction is felt. The staircase is located right below the
transparent glass doors, the light shining in makes this place even more special. The large
dome combined with the ancient staircase, long auxiliary corridors and windows that let
in the sunlight give this place a cinematic feel, from classic to modern.
