Dear Editor,
I am writing to emphasize the critical need for early assessment of sports talent among our
youth. Many promising athletes go unrecognized simply because they do not have access to
proper guidance and evaluation at a young age. Schools and sports organizations should
prioritize this by involving trained sports teachers and coaches who can identify and nurture
talent early on.
By establishing systematic talent identification programs, we can create a large pool of young
athletes who can be groomed for future success. This not only enhances our country’s
performance in international sports but also promotes a healthy lifestyle among children.
Investing in our youth's sports development will lead to a brighter future for Indian sports. I
urge authorities to take immediate action to implement these initiatives.
Sincerely,
Saksham/Sakshi Dave

(c) The program 'Students on Ice' was a success because it offered a life changing exposure to the
future generation of policy makers at an age when they could absorb, learn and act. It provided
them with inspiring educational opportunities which would help them foster a new understanding and
respect for our planet.

16 December 19XX Dear Robert,
I recently read your poem, "A Roadside Stand," and was moved by your portrayal of rural life
and the struggles faced by those who tend to the roadside stand.
In your exploration of rural life and the impact of urbanisation, consider emphasising the
interconnectedness of all aspects of society. Show how urban and rural environments
depend on each other in subtle and sometimes unexpected ways. This can lead to a greater
understanding of the interdependence of our world. Poetry has the power to inspire
change. Use your words to advocate for positive changes in society. If you believe that
the challenges faced by those in rural communities can be addressed, express those ideas in
your poetry.
I hope this advice is helpful to you. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do
to support you.
Yours lovingly,
Pablo Neruda
(B) Dr Sadao saved the life of an American war prisoner as his professional and humanitarian
duty. But he was very loyal to his country too. He told the General about the white man and
the General promised to send his private assassins to kill him. But due to his self-absorption
in his illness, the General forgot to send them. Finally, Dr Sadao decided to help the
American soldier escape from there. He gave him a boat, flashlight, food and water and asked
him to go to a nearby unguarded island. He could look for a Korean boat and escape. This
could be the best solution in the prevailing circumstances. Dr Sadao was in danger of being
caught for harbouring a POW. In that case, he would be questioned for the reason to give this
enemy a shelter in his house. So, in order to save his reputation and the life of the white man,
there could be no better way than what Dr Sadao had decided.
Q13. . (A) When Gandhiji reached Champaran, he came to know that the arable acres of
Champaran were divided into large estates owned by the British landlords. As per the long-
term contract, these sharecroppers were supposed to grow indigo on 15o of the land and give
it as rent. But due to the advent of synthetic indigo in Germany, landlords got the
compensation agreement signed by these peasants, who later on felt cheated.
Gandhiji's first triumph in the form of civil disobedience at Motihari laid the foundations
of the Indian Independence Movement. This brought a good result for sharecroppers in
the form of a committee through which 25% money was given by the landlords. Gandhiji
taught the lesson of unity and courage to the sharecroppers. His refusal to keep his friend
Andrews at Champaran to help him emphasised the importance of self-reliance for him. He
trained the peasants to be self-reliant and not to be dependent on others. Thus, self-reliance,
Indian Independence and help to sharecroppers were all tied together.

Derry’s encounter with Mr. Lamb in the garden reveals significant insights into his thoughts and
feelings about his appearance and personal challenges.
During the visit, Derry expresses his deep insecurity about his burnt face, feeling that it is ugly
and that others view him the same way. However, Mr. Lamb’s reaction is markedly different.
He engages with Derry kindly and emphasises that everyone and everything created by God
has its own unique value, irrespective of physical appearance. Mr. Lamb shares his own experience
of being teased for his tin leg, which helps Derry reflect on how others' opinions should not define
his self- worth.
This interaction signifies a turning point for Derry. Mr. Lamb’s acceptance and perspective
encourage Derry to reconsider his own self- image and the impact of external judgments.
Derry’s wish to visit Mr. Lamb again and his regret upon discovering Mr. Lamb’s death underscore
the deep connection and personal growth he experienced through this friendship. This
encounter highlights Derry’s internal struggle with self-acceptance and his gradual
movement toward overcoming these personal obstacles.
