What Is Yoga?
Yoga is an ancient practice that involves meditation, breathwork, and movement to
promote physical,Mental, and spiritual well-being.Yoga originated — and is still
performed in many parts of the world As a spiritual practice. Its origins can be traced
back to northern India more than 5,000 years ago,And it was first mentioned in ancient
sacred texts called the Rig Veda.

Yoga is one of the six schoolsOf philosophy in Hinduism and is an important part of
Buddhism, as well.The building blocks of yoga include asanas (poses), each of which
focuses on your flexibility and Breathing —especially as you go from one pose to the
next (move through a flow). This generally Provides relief from both physical and mental
tension, making it a powerful asset to have in your Daily routine.

There are six branches of yoga. Each branch represents a different focus and set of
characteristics.

The six branches are:

• Hatha yoga: This is the physical and mental branch that aims to prime the body
and mind.

• Raja yoga: This branch involves meditation and strict adherence to a series of
disciplinary steps Known as the eight limbs of yoga.
• Karma yoga: This is a path of service that aims to create a future free from
negativity and Selfishness.
• Bhakti yoga: This aims to establish the path of devotion, a positive way to channel
emotions and Cultivate acceptance and tolerance.
• Jnana yoga: This branch of yoga is about wisdom, the path of the scholar, and
developing the Intellect through study.
• Tantra yoga: This is the pathway of ritual, ceremony, or consummation of a
relationship.

TYPES OF YOGA

Ardha Chakrasana

foundation for many advanced asanas. Its elegant arc mimicking a half-wheel offers a

Vinyasa and Ashtanga.
