No textbook is required. Students will utilize a number of textbooks, course
materials and additional references depending on the project.

Prerequisite & Co-requisite:


This Course should be taken in the last semester after completion of some required
structural, transportation, geotechnical, and some courses might be as Co-requisite.

Codes, Manuals and Specifications:


The references will be specified for each team depending on the area of work.

Course Objectives:
The main objectives of this course are to:

1. Help the students to implement their academic and technical knowledge to


“real world” projects.
2. To develop team problem solving skills
3. To learn design philosophies
4. Experience working in a design team as designer
5. To learn how to do feasibility assessment.
6. To learn design project management skills
7. To develop skill in technical report writing and oral presentation
8. To become familiar with related design specifications, standards, and codes
Course Description and its Nature:
This is a complex of projects that contains:
 A building of Residential or Commercial up to 6 stories or Industrial of any
story. (Civil Engineer)
 Architectural as built drawing, site plan, parking area & 10 blocks orientation
a landscape of 4 hectares (Architect)
 Sewerage system design (Storm water & sanitary sewage a combined sewer
line) with wastewater treatment of different options. (Civil Engineer)
 Water supply system design (inside & outside of building) with water
reservoir of different options. (Civil Engineer & Mechanical Engineer)
 1.25km Road, which 250m cement concrete pavement inside the compound &
1.00km asphalt concrete pavement outside of compound with 12m bridge &
6m culvert. (Civil Engineer)
 Small dam for water irrigation & micro-hydro power generation. (Civil
Engineer)
 Power Generation With option of solar energy & micro-hydro power
generation (Energy Engineer & Electrical Engineer)
 Building’s all electrical related design (Electrical Engineer)
 Building’s all mechanical related design: HVAC, elevators & Plumbing for
building (Mechanical Engineer)
 Means of egress & firefighting (Civil Engineer & Mechanical Engineer)

Grading:

There is no exam in this course. However, group work, project diary, design reports,
and oral presentations will be graded.
