TV REMOTE CONTROL
HISTORY.-In 1950, Zenith Radio Corporation created the first remote designed to operate a
television. A wire connected the Lazy Bones remote control to the television. In 1955,
Eugene Polley created the Flashmatic, a wireless remote control.
USES-They are used to change a variety of settings, including the volume, track number,
and television channel. The required remote control device and the remote control code are
typically unique to a particular product line. However, there are universal remote controls that
mimic the remote control used on the majority of devices from major brands.
INVERTER AIRCON
HISTORY-The inverter, a technology used by the majority of top-tier brands of air
conditioners today, was created in 1980 by Toshiba. In essence, what an inverter does is
swiftly bring a room's temperature to the required level and then effectively maintain it.
ELECTRIC GUITAR
HISTORY-Jazz guitarists who wished to perform solos in big band settings adopted the
electric guitar after its invention in 1932. Les Paul, Eddie Durham, George Barnes, Lonnie
Johnson, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, T-Bone Walker, and Charlie Christian are some of the
earliest recorded supporters of the electric guitar.
DESCRIPTION-is a guitar that, unlike a regular acoustic guitar, requires extra amplification
in order to be heard at typical performance volumes. The vibration of its strings is
transformed into electrical signals by one or more pickups, which are then amplified into
sound by loudspeakers.
USES-It has developed into an instrument that can produce a wide variety of sounds and
styles in genres like pop, rock, folk, country, blues, and jazz, among others. Electric blues,
rock and roll, rock music, heavy metal music, and many other musical genres all benefited
greatly from it.
STEAM ENGINE
HISTORY-An English military engineer and inventor by the name of Thomas Savery. Based
on Denis Papin's digester or pressure cooker from 1679, he patent-protected the first
primitive steam engine in 1698. When Slavery developed the idea for a steam-powered
engine, he was working on a solution to the issue of pumping water out of coal mines.
DESCRIPTION-a device that burns steam to generate heat, therefore acting as a prime
mover, to accomplish mechanical work. A portion of the heat energy in hot steam, which is
typically provided by a boiler, expands under pressure in a steam engine.
USES-Numerous uses have been found for steam engines. Simple pumps were the first
steam engines, and they were employed to drain water from mineshafts. After various
upgrades, trains, ships, and entire factories were powered by more effective and potent
steam engines.
MEDUA
Petri dish
History -In 1887, Julius Petri invented a simple pair of nesting glass dishes, ideal for keeping
specimens of growing bacteria sterile—the 'Petri dish.' Science historian Howard Markel
recounts the history of this ubiquitous lab supply, and the serendipitous discovery of the stuff
in it, agar.
Petri dishes are named after German physician Julius Petri. In the late 1880s Petri
developed a set of nesting glass plates that created an ideal environment for growing
microorganisms. The deep, flat dish filled with a nutrient-rich gelatin provided a place for
growth. The lid protected the sample from contamination and facilitated its viewing under a
microscope. The dishes are made from Pyrex. Pyrex has its origins in the early 1910s, when
American glass company Corning Glass Works began looking for new products to feature its
borosilicate glass, Nonex. At the suggestion of Bessie Littleton, a Corning scientist’s wife,
the company began investigating Nonex for bakeware. After removing lead from Nonex to
make the glass safe for cooking, they named the new formula “Pyrex”—“Py” for the pie plate,
the first Pyrex product. In 1916 Pyrex found another market in the laboratory. It quickly
became a favorite brand in the scientific community for its strength against chemicals,
thermal shock, and mechanical stress.
Description- A petri dish is a flat, shallow dish made of glass or plastic with a suitable lid. A
petri dish is used to culture different types of cells, including bacteria and molds. It often
contains a nutritional medium on which the cells can grow.Petri dishes can be made of either
glass or plastic. Both with their respective pros and cons. The glass petri dish is made of a
heat resistant glass which can be sterilized by the use of an autoclave for repeated use.
Plastic petri dishes are often for single use and must be discarded.
Uses-A petri dish is used to culture different types of cells, including bacteria and molds. It
often contains a nutritional medium on which the cells can grow.
Camera
History -The first device able to reproduce and capture an image was invented in 1816 by
Joseph Nicéphore Niépce and was called the heliograph. In 1839, Louis Daguerre created
the daguerreotype, which was much closer to the photographic camera concept we know
today. The oldest photograph preserved today is a landscape taken by Joseph Nicéphore
Niépce at Le Gras, France, in 1826.
Uses-A camera is a piece of equipment that is used for taking photographs, making films, or
producing television pictures. Many cameras are now included as part of other digital
devices such as phones and tablets
Food processor
History-The food processor was invented by Pierre Verdon, whose Le Magi-Mix, a compact
household version of his own earlier restaurant-scaled Robot-Coupe, was first exhibited in
Paris in 1971. Carl Sontheimer, an American engineer and inventor, refined Verdon’s
machines to produce the Cuisinart.
food processor, electric appliance developed in the late 20th century, used for a variety of
food-preparation functions including kneading, chopping, blending, and pulverizing.Food
Processor and Food Chopper Features. Food processors and food choppers are typically
equipped with a clear plastic mixing bowl and lid, an S-shaped metal chopping blade (and
sometimes a blunt blade for kneading dough), a plastic food pusher to safely prod food
through the feed tube, and a safety lock
Uses-can tackle the tough and rigorous work of shredding, kneading, dicing and grinding,
but it can also blend a combination of ingredients into homogeneous mixtures in a similar
fashion as a blender.
History-The first ATM appeared at a branch of Barclays Bank in London in 1967, though
there are reports of a cash dispenser in use in Japan in the mid-1960s. The interbank
communications networks that allowed a consumer to use one bank’s card at another bank’s
ATM followed in the 1970s.
Description-ATMs are machines that dispense cash and allow you to make other banking
transactions. An ATM typically consists of a screen, a card reader, a keypad, a cash
dispenser and a printer. ATMs can be found in many locations throughout the U.S. and the
world.
Use-ATM, or automated teller machine, is a machine that lets you get cash from your bank
account without visiting a teller. Some ATMs are simple cash dispensers, while others allow
a variety of transactions such as check deposits, balance transfers, and bill payments.

POWER BANK
DESCRIPTION
A power bank is a portable device that stores electrical energy and is used to recharge or
power electronic devices such as smartphones, tablets, laptops, and other gadgets on the
go. Power banks are especially useful when you don't have access to a wall outlet or a USB
port to charge your devices.
HISTORY
The first portable power bank was created in 2001 by a Chinese company called Pisen. The
original design was two AA batteries pieced together by a circuit! It made its public debut at
the Las Vegas International Consumer Electronics Show. The first power bank was bulky
and had a short battery life.
USES
The purpose of a portable power bank is to charge mobile devices, smartwatches, and
sometimes even laptops. You can charge the power bank using a USB charger. Once fully
charged, you can connect it to your devices.

ELECTRIC KETTLE
DESCRIPTION
An electric kettle plugs into an outlet and uses electricity to power an integrated heating
element, rather than using a stovetop burner to heat water. Electric kettles come with a
power base that uses electrical current to send heat energy directly into the kettle (though
not all electric kettles have a separate base.
HISTORY
Carpenter Electric Company, in the US, launched their electric kettle in 1891. Two years
later, UK firm Crompton & Co released their own model. Both of these kettles featured a
heating element housed in a separate compartment, and both took more than 10 minutes to
boil.
USES
Most electric kettles are operated by either a simple on/off switch or feature controls that
heat water to a precise temperature to create specialty drinks like tea, coffee, hot cocoa or
other warm drinks. However, they can also be used to heat water for soup, oatmeal and
more.
