Normative Theory
Normative theory is a group of theories that evaluate how the media should be controlled by the
government, authorities, and the public. These theories are also known as theories of the press or
media. They are different from other communication theories because they don’t provide scientific
explanations or predictions

Q. Analyze the Pakistani media landscape using one of the normative theories of communication.
Explain why you think this particular theory best reflects the media system in Pakistan.
