Chapter 5 – PRESENTATION
-Visual effects 1
Presentation:
 A presentation created using Microsoft’s PowerPoint
software consists of a collection of slides arranged in a
systematic order.
 These slides make transition one by one presenting the
contents related to specific topic to an audience.
 It usually begins with title slide, and followed by content
slide.
 Uses:
 In business, face to face meetings, conferences and
academics environment,

 Slide sorter view
 Slide show view
 Slide master

It allows to make use of all the features and functions available in


the software.

Each view provides a different set of functions and are designed in


order to create, organize and deliver the presentation.

Views can be accessed from two locations

1. From status bar: Reading view

2. From presentation views section in view tab:
NORMAL VIEWS

 It is a default view of power point,


also known as slide view.
 It is used for creating and viewing
slides.
 It also used for delete, edit,
rearrange, add, remove and modify
slides.

Editing slides in normal view:

You can change or add the contents to the slides


1. Select the slide which you want to edit.
2. Place the cursor in the current slide, in the required placeholder
and type the changed content, or add pictures.

Deleting slides in normal view :

1. Select one or more slides in the thumbnails slide pane.


2. Right click the selected slide and click delete slide option,
3. Or press delete key.

SLIDE SORTER VIEWS
 It displays thumbnail versions of all
the slides, arrange in horizontal rows.
 It makes it easy to arrange the order
of slides by just dragging them here
and there as we want.

uses:
 Rearrange slides is easy.
 This view is very useful while working
with a large presentation.
 Easy to delete and copy slide.

READING VIEWS
 This view window with preview of the
presentation. Unlike slide show view.
 It is useful when you want to run the
presentation on your computer
without showing it to the audience.

SLIDE SHOW VIEWS
 A slide show is a presentation of all
slides to the audience in a pre-
arranged sequence.

Running slide show:


 Also called presenter view.
 You can run slide by pressing F5 key
 Or click on slide show button on
bottom right in the status bar.
 Or click view tab-> choose reading
view.
 Or select slide show tab, select from
beginning or from current slide. 10
SLIDE TRANSITION:
Slide transition is applied to a slide to create an
animation that occurs when one slide moves to another
slide during a slide show.

Adding transition effect to a slide:

1. From the left hand side panel select the slides


to which you want to add transition.

2. Click on transition tab and click on a


transition effects from the transition to this
slide group.

3. To re-set the slide transition speed and to add


sound to the transition change the value on
sound or duration present in the timing group.
ANIMATING THE SLIDE
 Animations are the great way to make the audience focus on the
important points and to create viewers interest in the topic.
 The entry and exit applied to objects of the slides or slides as a
whole combined with sound effects makes a good animation.

ANIMATION EFFECTS
 You can add various effects, set speed and direction on different
objects.
 The four categories of animation effects are,
• Entrance
• Emphasis
• Exit

• Motion paths
Entrance:
It controls the way how an object enters the slide.
Example: bounce, fall etc.

Emphasis:
These animation occur when the object is on the slide and is , often
triggered by mouse click, Example: grow/shrink.

Exit :
It controls the way how an object exist the slide.
Example: wipe.

Motion paths:
This animation ensures a predetermined path through which an
object moves within the slide.

To apply an animation to an object:
1. Select the object you want to animate.

2. On the animation tab, click more drop-down arrow in


the animation group.

3. From the drop down menu of animation effects select


the desired effect.

4. The effect will apply to the object which will have small
number next to it to show that it has an animation along
with the order.

Effect option:
1. It allows you to customize the animation further.
For example, with the fly in effect you can control
the direction in which the object comes from.

To remove an animation:
1. Click on the small number located next to the
animated object.
2. Press delete key on the keyboard.
