this occurs when a person come in contact with energized electrical conductor, leading to
electric current passing through a body.this can cause severe injuries or even death.

2. Burns;

Electrical burns can result from direct contact with hot electrical components or from arc
flash, which is a type of electrical explosion resulting from a flash over of electric current
through air.

3. Fire hazard.

Faulty or improperly used electrical equipment can lead to electrical fires. This can happen
due to overheating short circuits,or malfunctioning components.

4.electromagnetic interference (EMI).

Electrical equipment can emit electromagnetic radiation,which can interfere with other
electronic devices and cause malfunctions or data corruption.

Generally,these hazards highlights the importance of proper installation, regular maintenance, and
adherence to safety guidelines when using electrical equipment.

Qn2. What is the purpose of a system of safety colour and safety signs?

Answer,

Safety colour are specific colours that are used to represent different types of hazards or safety
information example. Red maybe used toindicate danger or stop,while green colour maybe used to
indicate safety or go.

Safety signs are physical signs that use safety colour and symbols to provide warnings instructions, or
other safety related information.

The purpose of a system of safety colour and signs is to;

1.warn about potential hazards and dangers in the workplace or other environments.

2. Provide clear and easily understood instructions for safe practices and procedures.
3. Indicate the location of emergency equipment,such as fire extinguishers or first aid kits.

4. Communicate important information about safety regulations and requirements.

5. Help people quickly identify and respond to emergency situations,such as fires or medical
emergencies.

Qn3. List four ways in which accidents may be caused?

Answer;

accidents may be caused by a variety of factors, including;

1. Human error or negligence:

Accident can occur when people fail to follow safety procedures, make mistakes, or act recklessly.

2. Equipment or machinery failure;

Accidents can happen when equipment or machinery malfunctions or is not properly maintained.

3. Environmental hazards.

Accidents can be caused by slippery or uneven surfaces, extreme temperatures, or other

environmental factors that increase the risk of injury.

4. Lack of training or supervision:

Accidents can occur when people are not properly trained or supervised, or when safety protocols
are enforced.

Qn4. State four precautions to be taken to avoid accidents when using machinery?

Answer;

when using machinery,it is important to take certain precautions to avoid accidents some of this
precautions include;

1. Proper training:

Operations should receive proper training on how to safety and effectively use machinery,
including how to identify and avoid potential hazards.

2. Regular maintenance.
Machinery should be regularly inspected and maintained to ensure that it is in good working
condition and to identify and address any potential issues before they cause an accident.

3. Use of personal protective equipment (PPE);

operators should wear appropriate PPE, such as safety glasses,gloves ear protection,to protect
themselves from potential injuries.

4. Following safety procedures.

Operators should follow all safety procedures and guidelines, such as shutting down the
machinery before performing any maintainance or repairs, keeping clear moving parts.

Qn5. Name four main groups of hazardous substances

Answer; there are four main groups of hazardous substances as explained below;

1. Physical hazards:

This include substances that can cause physical harm,such as extreme temperatures,noise and
radiation.

2. Chemical hazards;

these include substances that can cause chemical reactions or release of toxic fumes or gases
such as solvent,pesticides and heavy metals.

3. Biological hazards:

These include substances that can cause infections or other health problems, such as bacteria,
viruses, and othe microorganisms.

4. Ergonomic hazards:

These include substances or conditions that can cause musculoskeletal disorders or other
injuries, such as repetitive motions, awkward posture, and poor lighting.
