Verb Tense System Lesson

1. Present Simple
Usage: Routine actions, general truths, and facts.
Structure: Subject + base form of the verb (add -s or -es for he/she/it).
Example: She reads every day.

2. Present Continuous
Usage: Actions happening right now or around the current time.
Structure: Subject + am/is/are + verb + -ing.
Example: They are studying for the exam.

3. Present Perfect
Usage: Actions that occurred at an unspecified time or have relevance to the present.
Structure: Subject + have/has + past participle.
Example: He has finished his homework.

4. Present Perfect Continuous


Usage: Actions that started in the past and are still continuing or were happening recently.
Structure: Subject + have/has been + verb + -ing.
Example: We have been waiting for an hour.

5. Past Simple
Usage: Completed actions in the past.
Structure: Subject + past form of the verb.
Example: She traveled to Paris last year.

6. Past Continuous
Usage: Actions that were in progress at a specific time in the past.
Structure: Subject + was/were + verb + -ing.
Example: They were watching TV when I called.
7. Past Perfect
Usage: Actions that were completed before another action in the past.
Structure: Subject + had + past participle.
Example: He had left before the meeting started.

8. Past Perfect Continuous


Usage: Actions that were ongoing before another action in the past.
Structure: Subject + had been + verb + -ing.
Example: She had been working there for five years before she moved.

9. Future Simple
Usage: Actions that will happen in the future.
Structure: Subject + will + base form of the verb.
Example: I will call you tomorrow.

10. Future Continuous


Usage: Actions that will be in progress at a specific time in the future.
Structure: Subject + will be + verb + -ing.
Example: They will be traveling next week.

11. Future Perfect


Usage: Actions that will be completed before a specific time in the future.
Structure: Subject + will have + past participle.
Example: She will have finished her project by Friday.

12. Future Perfect Continuous


Usage: Actions that will be ongoing up until a specific time in the future.
Structure: Subject + will have been + verb + -ing.
Example: By next year, he will have been working here for a decade.
