Detailed Lesson Plan in Science Grade 7

Teacher: JESSA C. DE ASIS Subject: SCIENCE

School: LA DICHA NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL Quarter: FIRST

Grade: SEVEN Date: SEPTEMBER 19, 2023

I. Objectives

Content Standard: The learners demonstrate an understanding of the properties of substances that
distinguish them from mixtures.

Performance Standard: The learners should be able to investigate the properties of mixtures of varying
concentrations using available materials in the community for specific purposes.

Learning Competency: Distinguish mixtures from substances based on a set of properties

Objectives:
 Identify samples as homogenous and heterogeneous mixture.
 Differentiate homogeneous from heterogeneous mixture.
 Appreciate the use of mixture in everyday activity.

II. Content:

Subject Matter:
Homogenous and Heterogenous Mixtures

Integration: English: Learners will be using as their medium of communication in their reporting and
some queries and answers.

Values: The students appreciate the practical applications of the methods in separating components of
mixtures.

Strategies: 7 E’s Learning Model, Cooperative Learning, Learners will be using as their medium of
communication in their reporting and some queries and answers, Collaboration Learning.

A. Pre-liminary Activities
Good morning class! Good morning, Ma’am!
(The students will follow)
Everybody stand up, and let’s pray.
“Before you sit kindly pick up pieces of trash under your chair and
arrange your chairs properly.”
“You may now take your seats.”
“Who is absent today? As I call your name, say present.
Did you get it? Yes, ma’am!

III. Learning Tasks:

ELICIT (Access prior knowledge)

 Review
As a sort of review, who can recall our topic last meeting? (Student 1 will answer.)
Our topic last meeting was all about
the substance and mixtures.
(Student 2 will answer.)
Okay very good! So what is the difference between substance and a
mixture? An object is classified as a substance
when it has a homogenous or

The students will read the objective

of the lesson.
 Appreciate the use of mixture in everyday activity.

So those are the objectives for today’s lesson.

ENGAGE (Get the students’ minds focused on the topic)

Show a picture of halo-halo.

Halo-halo
Yes
Because it is literally a mixture of
many ingredients. Halo-halo means
mix.
What do you think it’s called halo-halo?
What can you see? Have you eaten halo-halo?

Definition of Terms:
Mixture – a mixture is a physical combination of two or more substances
that aren't chemically joined.
Heterogenous – a mixture where the mixed particles can be separated or
identified from the mixture.
Homogenous - a mixture where the components that make up the
mixture are uniformly distributed throughout it.
EXPLORE (Provide students with a common experience)
Reflection:

A. No. of learners achieve 80%: ____

B. No. of learners who require additional activities for remediation: ___

C. Did the remedial lessons work? ___

D. No. of learners who have caught up the lesson: ___

E. No. of learners who continue to require remediation: ___

F. Which of my teaching strategies worked well? Why did this work? ___

G. What difficulties did I encounter which my principal or supervisor help me solve? ___

H. What innovation or localized materials did I used/discover which I wish to share with another
teacher? ___

Title: Greenhouse Gases (Greenhouse Effect and Global Warming)
Objective: To be able to present how sources of greenhouse gases affects the atmosphere.
Materials: Worksheet

Procedure:
1. The students will be grouped into 7.
2. The members of each group will brainstorm about their assigned activity.
3. Output of each group will be written inside the box.

Questions:

1. What are the seven greenhouse gases in the environment?

2. Where these greenhouse gases do came from?

3. What are the effects of these greenhouse gases to the atmosphere?

4. What is the most abundant greenhouse gas in the earth’s atmosphere?
