Post-Truth has been employed frequently and apparently, is now accepted in society. Arguments tend to be dominated by people's own beliefs and emotions. As we observed today, no matter how significant and persuasive the information is, if the personal beliefs and stand of the opponent is more plausible then the public will pay attention to it. It is crucial to disseminate and understand information to increase knowledge and prevent errors that could progressively have an impact on society. We are aware that it is difficult to admit when we are mistaken, but our instinct is rarely accurate and never always right.
For this reason, I therefore believe that Renato Constantino's essay, "Miseducation of the Filipino", aims to inspire the youth and communicates his conviction that education is the primary source of information. It is a weapon we employ to combat false information that could harm our future. It also conveys a message that the past would never be altered, the only way we can do is to take action that will produce a great result for the economy. It teaches us to criticize and correct every information.
Being a critical thinker will result in better changes for the country in politics, too. Why do people have such a fear of making the right decision? People have become oblivious to the truth in order to further their own interests, yet in reality, making the incorrect choice would eventually have a negative impact on all of us. I am aware that everyone has the right to their own beliefs, but this right should not be abused. Although emotions do matter in some cases, there is a proper place for that.
In response to this, "Open the Schools" gained popularity among internet users. Instead of thinking this in a mocking way, we should use this as a reminder that we must consider factual information first. The incorrect decision of the people lies since they somehow lack comprehending the situation and information. We rely on other social media platforms so heavily without realizing that not everything we see is accurate. It is alarming that we use it as a reference when we shouldn't because its sole intended use is for amusement.
The only way to build the worthiness of the information is to be educated in a way that the society would benefit from us.
