Imagine that you start working in a new organisation with new teams as a
Scrum Master (SM). You are given a team or teams to develop. Your job is to
implement good practices based on the Agile mindset and the Scrum
framework. Based on your knowledge from Scrum Guide, how will you plan
your collaboration with the company, the teams and the customer? Which
elements from Scrum Guide will accompany you in your daily work, which
artifacts, which values? How do you want to prepare for Retro, Sprint
Planning and your daily collaboration with your team and organisation. Sketch
also what steps you will take, which people you need, which tools you will use
to teach and communicate the values of working in Scrum to the team.

***Additional task, for those willing: What Refinement is and what it does and
what the SM is responsible for during this meeting.

Based on your knowledge from Scrum Guide, how will you plan your
collaboration with the company, the teams and the customer?

 Make sure that scrum is understood by the company, the organization and management
 The scrum master should act the role of a facilitator, a mentor and a servant leader to get the
best out of the team
 Since the Product owner is the person directly involved with customer needs, the SM should
make sure have a clear understanding with the product owner
Which elements from Scrum Guide will accompany you in your daily work,
which artifacts, which values?

 Articfacts: Product Backlog, Sprint Backlog, Increment

 Values: Openness, Focus, Commitment, Courage, and Respect.

What Refinement is and what it does and what the SM is responsible for
during this meeting.

An ongoing activity the scrum team makes during the sprint to keep the product backlog up to date. Its
not among the five scrum events but it may increase the agility of the project by keeping the product
backlog current and precise.

Since this is not a formal scrum event, the SM can help in facilitating the meeting with the minimum
waste of resources such as time, and also create an understanding about the benefits of having a refined
backlog

Which elements from Scrum Guide will accompany you in your daily work, which artifacts, which values?
 Artifacts:
1. Product Backlog : In a software development context, this would be a prioritized list of
features, enhancements, and bug fixes that need to be addressed in the product.
2. Sprint Backlog : This is a subset of the Product Backlog, containing the items that the
team has committed to delivering during a sprint.
3. Increment : Which is refers to the sum of all the product backlog items completed
during a sprint, along with the increments of all previous sprints.
 Values:

fostering a culture of transparency.

Congratulations on your new role as a Scrum Master! Implementing good practices based on the Agile
mindset and the Scrum framework is crucial for the success of your team and organization. Here's a
guide on how to prepare for Retrospective, Sprint Planning, and daily collaboration:
How do you want to prepare for Retro, Sprint Planning and your daily
collaboration with your team and organisation. (maryna salii)
### Retro (Retrospective):

1. **Understand the Purpose:**

- Clarify the purpose of the retrospective, which is to inspect and adapt the team's process.
- Emphasize creating a safe environment for open and honest communication.

2. **Collect Feedback:**
- Gather feedback from team members anonymously before the retrospective. This could be through
surveys or other means.
- Encourage team members to share both positive and negative aspects of the sprint.

3. **Choose Appropriate Activities:**

- Select retrospective activities that fit the team's current needs. This could include activities like Start-
Stop-Continue, 4Ls, or Mad Sad Glad.
- Keep the retrospectives varied to maintain engagement.

4. **Prepare Action Items:**

- Ensure that action items from previous retrospectives are followed up and discussed.
- Collaborate with the team to prioritize and create action items based on the retrospective
discussions.

### Sprint Planning:

1. **Review Previous Sprint:**

- Evaluate the outcomes of the previous sprint during the Sprint Review.
- Discuss what went well, what didn't, and any changes that need to be made for the upcoming sprint.

2. **Product Backlog Refinement:**

- Work closely with the Product Owner to ensure the Product Backlog is refined and prioritized before
Sprint Planning.
- Ensure that items are well-defined and have clear acceptance criteria.

3. **Involve the Whole Team:**

- Encourage the whole team, including developers, to actively participate in Sprint Planning.
- Use the Sprint Goal as a focal point to guide discussions and decisions.

4. **Time-Boxing:**
- Emphasize the importance of time-boxing to keep the meeting focused and within the time frame.
- Ensure that discussions are not too detailed but provide enough information for the team to commit
to the work.

### Daily Collaboration:

1. **Daily Stand-ups:**
- Facilitate the daily stand-ups to be brief, focused, and encourage collaboration.
- Ensure that team members share updates on their work, discuss impediments, and collaborate on
problem-solving.

2. **Observe Team Dynamics:**

- Pay attention to team dynamics and intervene if there are conflicts or issues affecting collaboration.
- Foster a culture of openness, trust, and continuous improvement.

3. **Remove Impediments:**
- Actively work to remove impediments that are raised by the team.
- Collaborate with other Scrum Masters, stakeholders, or the organization to address systemic issues.

4. **Promote Continuous Improvement:**

- Encourage a mindset of continuous improvement within the team.
- Facilitate discussions on how to improve processes, collaboration, and the overall effectiveness of the
team.

Remember, the key to success is to be adaptable and continuously inspect and adapt your own
approach as a Scrum Master based on the needs and dynamics of the team. Regularly seek feedback
from the team to improve your facilitation and coaching skills.
