INTRODUCTION
BPO is the contracting of a specific business task, such as human resources and customer service, to a third-party service provider. In other words it is
referred as an organization entering into contract with another organization to

operate and manage one or more of its business processes

It is one of the fastest growing segments of the Information Technology


Enabled Services (ITES) industry.

TYPES OF BPO BASED ON VOICE


Inbound sales:- customer calls a business by way of

advertisement, referral from someone which end up in placing of order Outbound sales :- it is a proactive way of selling a product to customers by contacting them Customer service:- it covers wide range of services such as providing assistance , support , information, answer to customers on queries Technical support:-if a business product or service has element of technology telephone oriented tech support helps to address technical issues in this area

NON VOICE BASED


Accounting:-It includes full range activities relating to

a/c payable , a/c recieveable, managing general ledger, bank reconciliation statement etc Claims Processing :It is typically associated with insurance industry starts with customer enquiry that requires investigation , analysis, decision, follow up Transcription:-It is process of converting audio or visual information into electronic document form

Basis of location: ON-SHORE: BPO that is contracted inside a companys country.

NEAR-SHORE: BPO that is contracted to a companys


neighboring country.

OFF-SHORE:

BPO that is contracted outside a

companys country.

STRENGTHS
A major advantage for the company by way of cost cutting/reduction Availability of Highly skilled workers. Abundant manpower.

Availability of Cheaper workforce than their Western counterparts.


Lower attrition rates than in the West.

Lower response time required to handle the clients with efficient and effective service. Reducing Operating Costs.

WEAKNESS In the Recent months there has been rise in the level of attrition rates among outsourcing workers who are quitting their jobs to pursue higher studies. The young blood have shown tendency of not pursuing BPO as a full-time career due to impatience. The cost of telecom and network infrastructure is much higher in India than in the US. Lack of flexibility in the work due to stiff time schedules maintained by the companies. Heavy investments to be made by the company towards Training of the employees. Health issues

oppurtunities
Time zone difference between India other outsourced countries India can be recognized as a quality ITES objective rather than a low-cost opportunist Expected US$500 billion ITES businesses by 2020 India can put efforts for improvement of IT infrastructure, its application and maintenance. Multi-year contracts have made this sector valuable. Indian Government should close to western authorities and reduce political pressure

Threats
Increasing technology automation Political instability India's competitors offering cheap services Slowdown in demand British workers of Telecom protested against Indian BPO telecom sector

conclusion
BPO is a great source of employment in India. And has contributed a lot to the national economy. It is one of the main reasons behind the booming of this sector today
