The National Eligibility cum Entrance
Test or NEET-UG is an entrance examination in
India, for students who wish to study any
graduate medical course
(MBBS/BDS/PHARMACY) in government or
private Medical & Pharmacy colleges in India,
except for the institutions established through
an Act of Parliament e.g. AIIMS and JIPMER
Puducherry.
 NEET-UG (Undergraduate), for MBBS and BDS
courses, are conducted by the Central Board of
Secondary Education (CBSE).
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
As per CBSE, in order to be eligible for
admission to MBBS/BDS Courses for a particular
academic year, it shall be necessary for a
candidate to obtain minimum of marks at 50th
percentile in NEET to take admission in
MBBS/BDS Courses held for the said academic
year.
 However, in respect of candidates belonging
to SC/ST, OBC, the minimum marks shall be at
40th percentile. The percentile shall be
determined on the basis of highest marks
secured in the All India common merit list in
NEET for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.
ANNUAL INTAKE:
The seats are classified in the following categories:
(i) All India Quota Seats
(ii) State Government Quota Seats
(iii) State/Private/Management/NRI Quota Seats in all
Private Medical/Dental Colleges or any Private/
Deemed University
(iv) Central Pool Quota Seats
According to the data listed on the website of
MCI, Total Seats eligible for admission through
NEET 2017 were 63985. Out of which, 28115
seats were being offered in Government
colleges
OVERALL MARKS DISTRIBUTION
The paper had 180 questions each worth 4
marks. All questions were objective type with
single correct option. If we talk about subject
wise, then there were 45 questions from Physics
and Chemistry, and 90 questions were from
Biology (Zoology and Botany sections of
Biology).
Strategy for NEET-2018
Things to do:
 Give equal weightage to each and every topic
from Class 11 and Class 12 for your exam
preparation.
 Though NCERT should be your primary focus
area, do not limit your preparation approach to
the NCERT syllabus.
 Make sure you prepare each and every topic of
various subjects from NCERT as well as popular
competitive reference books (ask your
respective mentor to assist you regarding the
same; there are plenty of options in the market).
 Have a comprehensive strategy with well-
defined short-term and long-term goals in your
exam preparations. For example, topics to be
done on weekly and monthly basis, in addition
to the number of practice tests for various
subjects and sub-topics to be taken on
fortnightly and monthly basis.
 Ensure that you keep syllabus completion
targets and score achievement targets for your
practice tests. Always try to push yourself
further in order to reach your goals before the
designated time.
 As you delve further into any given topic, note
down critical formulae that you encounter from
each and every topic and pin them right in front
of you. After covering the complete topic, attach
them to a separate file folder for future
reference and revision.
 Make individual notes for each and every topic.
Analyze the problem-solving techniques for various
numerical and formulate a rough design to approach
such questions. If there is more than one method to
approach the same problem, make sure you practice
both of them till you are adept. Devise a rough and
quick method to reach solutions and revise these rough
approach methods often.
 Learn meditation, yoga or any other forms of
relaxation techniques as it suits you. Such
techniques have a stress relieving effect and also
help you attain a higher degree of concentration.
 Keep an honest account of your progress
report. Revise each and every topic frequently.
Practice topic-specific questions and update your
progress report accordingly.

the provision of drug-related
information to the public.
 According to the FDA (Food and Drug
Administration), Drug is a substance intended
for use in the diagnosis, cure, mitigation,
treatment, or prevention of disease.
Scope of Pharmacy
 It involves:
1. Interpretation of prescription orders
2. Compounding.
3. Labeling.
4. Dispensing of drugs and devices.
5. Drug product selection and drug utilization reviews.
6. Patient monitoring and interventions.
7. Provision of information of medications and devices.

The course of study for B. Pharm shall extend over a period

of eight semesters (four academic years) and six semesters
(three academic years) for lateral entry students. The
duration for the completion of the program shall be fixed as
double the actual duration of the program
