abstract
•The desideratum of cogent water level control in a dam, to ward off flood-relevant complications, is piling up with every
progressing day.
•In order to ensure the safe supply of the drinking water the quality needs to be monitor in real time.
•In this paper we present a design and development of a low cost system for real time monitoring of the water quality in
IOT(internet of things).
•The system consist of several sensors is used to measuring physical and chemical parameters of the water in the dam.
•The parameters such as temperature, PH, turbidity, flow sensor of the water can be measured.
•The measured values from the sensors can be processed by the core controller.
•The Arduino model can be used as a core controller.
•Finally, the sensor data can be viewed on internet using WI-FI system.
introduction
•Water pollution is one of the biggest fears for the green globalization.
•The process of controlling various processes machines and devices is a fast growing
phenomenon and application areas revolve around fields such as industry, customer service,
maintenance business, security biology, medicine and social sciences.
• A Dam is a barricade constructed across the flow of water to control, direct and to hold or
raise the level of water.
•This paper showcases the implementation of a simple control system.
•Water being an important basic requirement for living, needs to be conserved and preserved.
•Therefore its distribution and usage is of utmost consideration.
Introduction

•As population increases day by day the requirement of water resources has been
added on to our issue.
•Thus the dam construction was found to be a gate-way of solution for the above
problems. Dams tends to achieve these needs as they are a source of Hydro electric
power and water storage.
objective

•To automate the dam for control flow of water which aids in effective irrigation
system.
•The distribution of optimum amount of water the control of floods and prevention
of dams from damages that can be caused.
•To control and automate model dam built for testing purposes.
Existing system

•In conventional methods used in dams, in the monsoons, there are instances
where agricultural fields get destroyed during severe rainfall.
•It is a cartable arrangement for scrutinizing and taking remedial actions to
prevent disasters is built up.
Drawback of existing system

•Not detecting the more parameters for most secure purpose.

• Less reliability
Proposed system

•Nowadays, water quality monitoring in real time faces challenges because of global warming
limited water resources, growing population, etc.
•Water level monitoring using ultrasonic sensor.
•The water quality parameters pH measures the concentration of hydrogen ions.
•Water quality monitoring using pH sensor.
•Water level and pH value is indicated in LCD and alarmed using buzzer.
•We can also monitored water level and pH sensor in mobile using IOT.
advantages

•The system has good flexibility.

•The operation is simple.
•It is low in cost and does not require people on duty.
•More economical, convenient and fast.

EXPLANATION
•The levels of water in the dam are not fixed in height or depth, the measure of which can be vary
by the user, the reasons for this will be depicted in the functional blocks.
•Once there is an alert that the water level is 100%, the level more than that is required, it can be
transferred to the lower reservoir through the gates (interior spill ways, triggered by the control
panel on the status of level sensors), then it is fed to the distribution chamber.
•In this, we present the theory on real time monitoring of water quality in IoT environment.
•In this proposed block diagram consist of several sensors (ultrasonic, pH) is connected to core
controller.
•The core controller are accessing the sensor values and processing them to transfer the data
through internet.
EXPLANATION
•The sensor data can be viewed on the internet wi-fi system.
•The pH of a solution is the measure of the acidity or alkalinity of that solution.
•The pH scale is a logarithmic scale whose range is from 0-14 with a neutral point being 7.
•Values above 7 indicate a basic or alkaline solution and values below 7 would indicate an acidic
solution.
•It operates on 5V power supply and it is easy to interface with arduino.
•The normal range of pH is 6 to 8.5.
•An electric pump motor is an electrical machine that converts electrical energy into mechanical
energy.
EXPLANATION

•The reverse of this is the conversion of mechanical energy into electrical energy and is done by an
electric generator, which has much in common with a motor.
•An Ultrasonic sensor can measure the distance to an object by using sound waves.
•It measures distance by sending out a sound wave at a specific frequency and listening for that
sound wave to bounce back.
•After sensing the data from different sensor devices, which are placed in particular area of interest.
•The sensed data will be automatically sent to the web server, when a proper connection is
established with sever device.
hardware used

•Arduino UNO
•Ultrasonic Sensor
•pH Sensor
•Pump Motor
•Crystal Oscillator
•LCD
•Relay
•ESP 8266
Software used

•Arduino IDE
•Proteus
Conclusion
•An automated dam gate-level controller was brought to use, supplemented by the
significance that it is not only automatic but also IoT- based.
•The system can monitor water quality automatically, and it is low in cost and does
not require people on duty.
•So the water quality testing is likely to be more economical, convenient and fast.
•By keeping the embedded devices in the environment for monitoring enables self
protection (i.e., smart environment) to the environment.
•Then the collected data and analysis results will be available to the end user
through the Wi-Fi.
